UNH- How Far West Do We Go?

The writers/broadcaster's vote simply flipped BC/BU, PC/UConn and NU/MC. The result is a poll pretty close to a carbon copy of last season's final standings, which is how these pre-season votes usually play out..
Well, they still need to play the games, fortunately, cuz that result would be disappointing...

Was gonna say the same exact thing. Not a lot of critical thinking going on with the preseason polls, especially this one, regularly.

In tangentially related local news ... seems the Ice House, a local Rye ice cream stand/seasonal restaurant, and the infamous backdrop for some long-forgotten shenanigans in the USCHO epic Da Godfaddah a generation or so ago, will be shuttering for good sometime next month. Au revoir another one bites the dust.

Very curious to see how goaltending playing time works out this season. Major storyline from last season was Souza keeping a goalie on the bench for virtually the entire season who would ultimately shut down a powerful BC team down the stretch. Not to mention the impact of the no rest days for Whale that resulted from that decision.

Hopefully there is an early learning curve until they figure it out. I would image the two first weeks are a split unless there is some outstanding play in practice. Remember, Whale was horrific on Friday's last year. The splits are night and day so it will be interesting.

The other concern is what is in front of them. With 19 as the elder statesman, that is of major concern too.

Funny, as I just came across a newspaper clipping that my mother sent me in April 2003 about the riot on Durham’s Main Street after the UNH loss in Buffalo.
Adding photo for context, Chuck lead the movement and can be seen in the middle holding up a sign despite face down.

63 travelers spanning 37 vehicles were impacted tremendously.

First of all hopefully everyone had a fantastic summer. This isn't hockey related but I was scrolling today and this is interesting, The old saying the coach matters in this case is true. UNH mens soccer is 0-4-3 to start the season. On the other hand North Carolina St is 6-0-1 and ranked second in the country. Guess they f**cked up.

Good for N.C. State. It pays good coaches. UNH doesn’t.

Marc Hubbard 2024 salary at NC State was $175K (so he is poor according to potty). It was $150K when he left UNH. That is a nice bump but I am guessing there is more to leaving than $25K.
Yup, Hubbard could not take any more of the cold temperatures in Cow Hampsha.

As predicted by yours truly. All someone with a modicum of vision needed to do was to offer him the AD's position, in addition to allowing him to continue to run the Men's Soccer program. Homegrown guy who only wanted to be the best at what he did best, and was doing amazingly well at it already. Total UNH fail.
