The issue is...even if its a resounding win in '26 and the Dems take both Houses it won't mean anything. Trump ignores Congress when he controls it he won't be stopped by the Dems. And unless they get 60 in the Senate its all moot anyways because he won't be removed. And let's be honest...with worthless empty suits like Jeffries and Schumer (and almost all of leadership) couldn't lead a hockey chant let alone a resistance.

This is the status quo now. Until people accept that we can't move forward. Unless there is tribunals of everyone involved the cancer will continue to spread.
 
It’s interesting, I watched a YouTube video from a psychologist who asserted that the 2024 results from the young white men had to do with worries around a loss of perceived status vs some “lesser them.” So long as white people think they rule the nation, they won’t be so reserved about voting in democrats. I’m not sure I buy it.

Then I watched a YouTube video from a group that interviewed four or five young white guys. The loan D voter talked about practical things while the other men talked about not being represented by the D candidates, but Hair Furor spent time addressing the young men during his stump speeches while Kamala and the other D candidates discussed other things. I don’t recall any discussion of “how’s that working out for you”, but I also don’t recall when that video was uploaded.

It’s a lot easier to blame women for men’s standing in society than to take a hard look at why so many men are unhappy.

Well, that's what I mean. There's a lot of people just in denial about reality and they're hanging on to "norms" that don't exist as a form of coping. They're expecting some magical, finger snap back to "normality" that isn't coming. That's what is really keeping our society propped up at this point.

Its like when people say "this is not who we are". Newsflash it totally is. Its not like Democrats werent deporting "illegals" or playing up the "border is a mess" rhetoric all the time. Just because they were somewhat nicer about it doesn't make them better. Harris wanted to sign the Immigration Bill...Dems voted for the Laken Riley Act. This is exactly who we are. (which is why the Dems still dont talk about Immigration even though Trumps polling on the issue is still tanking)

We were taught to believe otherwise...but it just isn't true. How many Iraqis died because non-Iraqis attacked us? How many Saudis did despite the fact they were much closer to it? How many times in history have we flirted with fascism only to be saved at the last second? What did we do to the Chinese back in the day? How do you think the Natives think of us? Remember when the "Irish Need Not Apply"? How many governments did we topple? How many Vietnamese and Cambodians did we slaughter? What is the feeling of Black People in this country? What is the rule that Trump is using to justify his concentration camps based on exactly? (Japanese Internment)

This is who we have always been...because this is what we come from. The British raped the entire world and we are just their rebellious sons. We are hateful, warmongering, racist pr!cks and until we wrestle with that we will never change. Trump is just the Stage 4 tumor metastasizing.

Along those lines I got talking to the intern on my project today; white, 21/22 year old whose initial political talk was very moderate and tempered for being from deep red Western Illinois, in that we agreed about a few things. We talked about how rural areas keep voting Republican for the last 30 years with no change ever.

But here's were the talk took a turn, he absolutely hates Pritzker because of "his mismanagement of Covid. I lost out on two years of high school, especially summer baseball, because of what he did. And, I live 30 minutes from Iowa where school and baseball kept going? I had potential college ball taken away from me by him. I'll vote against him the rest of my life."

There is a lot of that in rural Michigan against Whitmer and the Democrats too. "We don't live in the cities so rules shouldn't apply to us."

And if someone in his family had a serious complication from Covid, that also would be pritzgers fault. Because conservatives cannot consider anyone but themselves, ever

Relatively speaking, no generation since the Greatest has faced hardship. We are all whiners.

The hard rain's coming, but it hasn't started yet.
 
I grew up rather poor with a chaotic and broken family...and i didnt whine I just friggin dealt with it and lived. I had less than my whole family and most of my friends...missed out on lots of cool and important stuff. Chit happens.

In my experience, relative deprivation is the morale killer. The middle class kid at the edge of the upper class neighborhood, or the poor kid at the edge of the middle class neighborhood. When everyone's in the shit, there are still whiners but they are merely the self-absorbed.

In 500 years we'll have bio-modified wings. Nobody right now is losing sleep over the oppression of not having wings.

I grew up similarly. Learned the difference between needs and wants quickly, and learned how to be responsible with what I have.
