I guess I don't understand what y'all mean when you say that you don't acquire news from "social media".

I don't watch TV for news at all. Print doesn't exist. So I don't understand the hate on this one.

Everything I see comes from online in one form or another (Here, BlueSky, FaceBook, etc.) . And I don't think that anyone here on USCHO is any different. So being upset about the findings here has me scratching my head.
 
There's a difference between a post linking to a legit source, and billybob1488 linking to some pseudoscientific woo or RWNJ crankery. This survey makes no distinction as to the type and credibility of the sources people tend to get from social media and the Internet in general, and a lot of them are flaming hot garbage. Just look at some of the laughable bullshit Shrimpy farts out here every few weeks trying to spread anti-vax and transphobic disinfo to feel better about his personal inadequacies and shortcomings.

This is what I am talking about.

A lot of the content I find on Bluesky comes from the account holder (including in many cases the creator of the content) linking to a story that is housed elsewhere. Does that technically mean I am getting my material from Bluesky or the source such as Reuters, the AP,...?

It's a legitimate distinction to consider when analyzing the poll.

I just posted about it in gun control thread. Sounds like possibly multiple shooters and is still active as they try to locate them. Situation is difficult due to terrain, the fire, and possibly civilians who were in the area recreating and are now trying to get away from both the fire and the shooting danger.
 
Just came across this gal who grew up in a KKK household and can explain what's going on i. Idaho.


She says that the next few days/weeks are going to be interesting as the Christo- extremists are going to either see one of their own as a hero and go to arms with everyone, or they'll think they were infiltrated and will go to arms with everyone.


She also makes a note that yes, she's South Asian, her dad was white and married a mail order bride. She says all the racist white nationalists do.

I have a cousin who flies for UPS out of Louisville. He thankfully was not in the area and was at home on the other side of the Ohio River at the time.

Looks like it may have crashed into some buildings to the south of the airport. Wouldn't be surprised if there are more casualties beyond the crew.

Looks like it crashed starting at Grade Lane towards Melton Ave just north of a little bar and grill (Stooges) to the south of the airport. Looks like most of the area would be salvage yard and recycling type areas. Still likely some people on the ground. Hoping for the best. Thankfully it was not departing to the north or it could have hit more residential type areas

I think it’s likely there’s casualties on the ground unless they got really lucky. Glad to hear your cousin is ok, what planes do they fly?

He flies one of the 747s. He does go through Anchorage quite a bit. Or did. I think he is in the process of retiring so it seems like he has been flying a little less but I remember when he would post about making laps of the Pacific (Lots of trips into Hong Kong but also Dubai and sometimes Cologne, Honolulu, and a few other places). His name is Scott. Retired Lt Colonel from Air Force reserve I think it was. Flew KC-135 refuelers.

If he flys 747s I’ve definitely run into him. Glad to hear he’s ok though.

Louisville Airport announced they’re closed until 7am so that’s going to completely fuck UPS’ system for the next few days.

Engine fire it looked like. With it fully loaded with fuel and cargo it had no chance if they’d already hit V-1. You can see it leaning to the side with the engine fire.
 
Seeing more angles of things. Plane was using 17R, clipped a UPS warehouse on the south end as it went down and then went into an area full of recycling centers and salvage yards. One of those businesses that looks to have been hit was a place that specialize in petroleum product recycling. Definitely a huge environmental/HAZMAT concern.
