If they did nothing wrong...a trial wont be a problem.

What is your issue with it? They did it at Nuremburg. (although it was international) I am not saying they get hung for treason or charged with war crimes (yet) or anything...I am saying they need to defend their actions in an open forum.

This is not a normal political issue otherwise I would agree it is not a good move. When you have people openly talking about ending Democracy, when they openly defy the rules of the Constitution, when they threaten war with allies and are in league with enemies, when they allow non-elected officials to make State decisions, when they defy orders of the court in direct contravention of Article III, when Article I is made irrelevant because the entire party follows the orders of their tyrant leader making only 1 branch matter anymore...this is not political this is a fight for the very soul of the country. And yes, I realize that makes me sound like them but the difference is I am not just going to shoot first and ask questions later...each will have a chance at due process. (which is more than they want to give any of us) If reasonable people think they should be spared GITMO or Leavenworth they will be. If their actions are deemed acceptable by Congress then they can stay...but the time for appeasement is over.

And I honestly dont care how it looks to the people who act as the "Good Little Germans" or the MAGAts. Do you care how punishment of criminals looks to other criminals and their enablers?

If we'd had hearings like this after Jan 6, maybe we wouldn't be in the situation we find ourselves in today.

Doing what they did and walking away with no repercussions whatsoever has only emboldened them.

In addition to a president, there's a lot of senators and representatives who should have been stripped of their position and never allowed to hold office again, at the very least.

It is always white men who don’t feel the same fear or pressure. They’ll keep telling everyone things aren’t that bad, they haven’t felt what minorities or women have yet. They just keep saying we’re insane- always the word usee to discredit women. Or hysterical

Yep. In an effort to try and heal we let clowns like Lee, Hawley, Cruz, Jordan, Gaetz, Boebert, Greene...etc. walk away without even an ethics inquiry. We never forced any of them to answer for the things they said or did. Just like how Senate Dems just handed Trump and the GOP the keys to do whatever they want by backing down, the Dems gave the GOP open access to be traitors and never worry about repercussions. Merrick Garland was the final nail in that coffin...

Sometimes you need to do more than just wag your finger or slap a wrist. Sometimes you need to punish them...HARD.
 
Handy I'm not against trials per se, it was the way the concept was presented here in ways that felt way out of process that was bothersome to me, and imho sounded no better than Trump's rounding up people and sending them to Gitmo.

I am not in any way against rooting out this scourge within legal means. I would think my posting history would bear that out.

i don’t think anyone doubts your intentions or hatred of Nazis. For me, when i said im not sure many men get it, its just personal experience- watching how my rights were taken away SO fast after so many said women were hysterical.

I lived in goddamn East Berlin and studied the holocaust extensively and still didn’t think it could go so quickly.

I’m unsure if class is still offered - but I know your son is at my Alma matter. If the history of the holocaust is still being taught, I highly recommend- it was one of my most important classes at that school I wish everyone could take
