Where Schumer, Slotkin, Peters, and others are failing is in their misguided belief that most of MAGA are simply victims who were duped by Trump's lies. They voted for him because they liked what they heard and agreed with most, if not all of it, just as long as they didn't have to feel any consequences themselves. They are as evil and sociopathic as he is. It's a startling thought, realizing half the voting population lacks enough intelligence and empathy to think beyond their own personal needs and fears as far as eating/sleeping/pooping/working/recreating/romancing/procreating. It is, however, reality.
West Germany went through this same false sense of the common German citizen being a victim of Hitler's regime in the post-WW2 period - i.e., the idea that most of them had no idea about the camps and weren't complicit in the Holocaust (they were just following orders, too!). Many high-ranking Nazis were even given amensty and permitted to come out of hiding and ascend to high offices within the West German government, guilt-free, and it was because of the same bullshit Slotkin is shoveling about "representing a purple state" and how we have to include everyone, and that's why she can't grow a fucking pair of ovaries.
After we beat the Nazis this time, let's not reach out to them and welcome them back into the fold, OK? Just build the gallows.
