I like your numbers better than mine. Either way, things look good for the Mavs.My math is poor, but I think 3 beats Augie, and 6 (combination of our points won or their points lost) beats BG.

The guys on the USCHO podcast also said 6 pts would clinch, so I yield to your superior math skills. Well played, sir.I forgot about Tech. Old school (points, not percentages), we're 9 up on them, with 12 points to play, so they're still alive. We need to earn at least 3 to beat Augie anyway, so the scenario is no different with Tech.
After last night's shutout and BG's loss, Mavs have cliched a tie. One more point and we are outright CCHA regular season champions. The future looks bright once again. The guys on the USCHO podcast also said 6 pts would clinch, so I yield to your superior math skills. Well played, sir.
Mission accomplished. Home ice for however far they go in the conference playoffs. After last night's shutout and BG's loss, Mavs have cliched a tie. One more point and we are outright CCHA regular season champions. The future looks bright once again.
Tracy has shown that he doesn't need rest. In fact, I think he thrives on work. That being said, I think you give Pulver some minutes this weekend. After the splits coming after the Christmas break, this team has really started to get back on track. Hopefully they're peaking at the right time.
Big question now is do you rest Tracy next weekend and give Pulver some ice time just in case he's needed down the line?
Ehh, sweeping us this year won't mean as much as us sweeping you last year. You already have the MacNaughton and we are mired in the bottom half of the standings. Was only able to watch bits and pieces, but seems like the most complete weekend of the season. Hesitant to rest anyone that isn't banged up since you need everyone firing on all cylinders for the conference tournament, and also who doesn't want to sweep Bemidji after last year?
Also, would 100 percent welcome Lake State as a round one opponent, seems like they've checked out.
You've got a point. Sweeping the #46 team in the pairwise won't do the Mavs any good.Ehh, sweeping us this year won't mean as much as us sweeping you last year. You already have the MacNaughton and we are mired in the bottom half of the standings.
Regardless of last night's outcome, we didn't back into anything.Okay, nice win. Didn't back into the NCAA berth. Looking forward to the seedings.
Well, it didn't happen, so it doesn't matter. But yes, if they had lost the CCHA tournament championship game and advanced to the NCAA tournament only because St. Thomas was ineligible, that would have been "backing in."Regardless of last night's outcome, we didn't back into anything.
No they wouldn't have. When St Thomas joined the conference, everyone knew this was a possibility. Backing in is needing someone to lose. We didn't need BGSU to lose (and neither did Bemidji).Well, it didn't happen, so it doesn't matter. But yes, if they had lost the CCHA tournament championship game and advanced to the NCAA tournament only because St. Thomas was ineligible, that would have been "backing in."
I'm guessing St. Thomas twin cities location and piggy bank had a lot to do with this. Sadly I think if they had stuck it out with Auggie and them the conference would have been much improved. Jumping to the nchc might not be as great as they think.I really like watching Mankato, they have been the cream of the crop for the CCHA. They keep the league as a talking point! How in the world St Thomas went into the NCHC over Mankato is a huge head scratcher. For the CCHA who cares and must keep Mankato rolling along.
No it would not have. St Thomas is ineligible. Period. The moment they beat BG, the other semi became the de facto auto bid game.Well, it didn't happen, so it doesn't matter. But yes, if they had lost the CCHA tournament championship game and advanced to the NCAA tournament only because St. Thomas was ineligible, that would have been "backing in."
