Like I said...they think we are stupid. (it doesnt work that way)(

Yavin is the Elon Musk of MTGs.
Yarvin’s philosophy is Silicon Valley, techbro thinking distilled into its essence: Presenting already tried terrible ideas as brand new, groundbreaking achievements. A bunch of idiots with too much money who truly they are the best and brightest and never fully think through their ideas running things? What could go wrong?

Yup...that guy loses the plot mid-sentence sometimes. Silicon Valley is filled with man-babies who spent too much time thinking about open workstations and free snacks and not enough on how to actually do anything of value. AI will (hopefully) be their final death rattle.

Speaking of people with bad ideas, the guy being talked about in this clip is currently trying to get all Dems to allow for Cloture on the CR so it can pass.

I see Michigan, NV and AZ are going to screw us all again.

Man, it is looking more and more like the Republicans played chess while the Democrats were playing with themselves..... We are f***ed.....

Can someone explain what the big issue(s) are? My default going in assumption was that a CR can't do much harm, because it would just "continue" the current spending from 2024.

Doesn't seem so bad.

Have the republicans been sneaking additional conservative crap in there? If so, then the Republicans bear 100% of the blame.

Not sure how much they have snuck but since Trump can do anything he wants right now the Democrats voting for the CR basically endorses his power. And, that's why the Republicans don't mind doing a CR now, because Trump will just slash everything anyway without Congress and without a law.

Hell, Congress has the power to stop the Tariffs and the Republicans just passed a law preventing the Democrats from forcing a vote on Tariffs.

The Republicans are playing 3 Dimensional chess and the Democrats are playing peek a boo.

My understanding is there are some provisions that transfer spending power from the legislative branch to executive branch.

But shut government down, and Donnie is still the one making all the decisions. Except now no government agencies doing what little they can do under him, and no Congress at least possibly serving some sort of feeble check on him.

It's so funny to watch everyone talk like there are still checks and balances anywhere. Trump is in charge. No one is stopping him, and no one is interested in stopping him. It's over. You may as well use the Constitution as toilet paper at this point cause that's all its worth.

During a shutdown the GAO decides i believe not Donny. Any action Trump takes is "technically " illegal. (Not that courts care)

And @LynahFan a provision was added that gave Trump authority over certain spending that Congress controls. They put it in yesterday.

Half the government is shut down already...what's the big deal?

They can't stop the coming budget cuts unless they show they can actually muster the strength to stand up. Their one chip to play is a shutdown. If they capitulate then they lose any leverage they have to stop Elmo and Trump. If they shut down the government they can at least negotiate a way to reign them in. (In theory...but better to try then to not)

Problem is Dems are worried about an election 20 months away. They don't realize if they give in now there is no tomorrow.
