Wisconsin Hockey 24-25 Improving With All Due Haste.

No stats update this week. I don't have the energy. I hope they go on a winning streak, but I have accepted the fact that they are just a mediocre team and likely will be under .500 and Hastings will have his first losing season as a coach. Very disappointing. Closest he came to a losing season at Mankato was 8 games over .500. Wisconsin is a big ship to turn around and the Big7 is death march, but it comes down to the poor start, poor overtime record, and n/c losses. Someone above mentioned this and it did take Motzko 3 years to turn Minnesota around, so hopefully next year...... Like we've been hoping for the last 15 years.....

Yeah they are who they are at this point. They just don't have enough difference makers. Too bad DSP and/or Bantle didn't do the 5th year thing, but I can't blame them for wanting to get paid playing hockey.

Scarfone has to be sat down. We're not going anywhere this year anyway, and we have to figure out if Gramme can play. Giving up goals too easily. 5 minutes in and one team came to play, and they're not wearing red.

We saw this last year down the stretch. I fear the same implosion is underway. If they don't win tomorrow, they'll go to O$U and get dismantled next weekend. By then I'm not sure they'll compete against Notre Dame.

If Hastings had any hair, it would all be gone with this team. At best they should be an average team, but they're not even that good and they should be. I just don't understand why they are as bad as they are.

They didn’t show up after getting destroyed last week. Just awful tonight. 0-3-1 in last four. Season will be under.500, no home ice for playoffs, and no ncaa. I’ve moved on to next year and hope we can get some better talent. Agree with playing Gramme so you can see what you got with him. That soft goal can’t happen.

I'm also against bringing in a portal goalie that has only 1 year to play. If a worthy underclass player is available, then fine. We do not need a revolving door in net, we need to develop an already quality player. I get the feeling that they're not sold on Gramme by the fact they brought in Scarfone, and Gramme doesn't get a sniff despite Scarfone has given up some real softies in the the last couple of weeks. I'd do it tomorrow, but if we lose tomorrow it's done even if you think Scarfone is better. We lose with him, so what if we lose with Gramme? We need to start next season knowing what we have in goal and where we need to go. As I said there are hints they've already decided on what Gramme is since he isn't splitting the weekend despite Scarfone's mediocre play.

Scarfone only gave up 1. He gave them a chance to win. Gramme played well last year, but that last start he was a deer in headlights. What I am surprised about is they haven't played Castro at all. The dude has a ton of experience and has won a Clark cup. On paper he's more qualified than Gramme. He's the future or why did they bring him in? I do not disagree that with the season probably over let's see what the other 2 can do in game situations.

The problem is at F. They only have 4 sog in the 3rd period being down 1 goal? That's comically bad. And it's not the fist game where that was the case either. The talent is thin there. Only 2 F are playing at weight, Finley and Mosley. Morrissey is punching above weight. Everyone else is underperforming/or just not that good. It's a huge concern for the future, however this is only year 2 for Hastings. They don't lose a lot at F, so they will return experience (that haven't proven they can score), but if Fitzgerald leaves, it's a bad situation.

I also think it comes down to this team has a player leadership issue. When they need to grab the task at hand by the throat, they don't. The coaches can preach/push all they want, but it has to come from the players will in the end. This set of guys doesn't have it.

I don't disagree for the most part, Tim. The forward lines are not pulling their weight, but beyond line shuffling there aren't any other choices right now. The team does seem aimless at times. I'm not sure what Hastings can do about that right now.

Yes, Scarfone gave up only 1 goal, 1 bad goal on the first or second shot in the game. This team is so fragile and I think that really hurt them. He's had no help over the last stretch, but he seems to make the big saves and gives up goals on routine shots too often. Regardless, he won't be here next year, and this year is over other than for evaluation purposes (part of me is saying this so that I look incredibly stupid when they go on a tear). Castro, he** I'd forgotten about him. Give him or Gramme some time to show what they have.

I’m less concerned about the lack of execution and more by the continued poor decision making. If they were just losing to better talent that would be understandable.

The issues this team have are more mental than physical and those are MUCH harder to diagnose and correct. Honestly, with the lack of progress I’m very concerned this could be a multi-season process to get things fully back on track.

38 shots for Wisconsin with just under 8 minutes to go and only 2 goals to show for it. It’s not about quantity of shots. It’s about quality.

Penn State just scored. 4 goals on 18 shots.

Will they get another win this year? Definitely no sure thing. This was an embarrassment. Tyson Dyck's incredibly stupid penalty started the downfall. BTW, Hastings seems to think a lot of him, can anyone tell me why?

Over/under on the number of portal transfers out?
