The Countries: Forget it, Burkina Faso, Michigan is still the worst.

I assume back here now?
Yeah, that was a special time for her, but she wasn’t comfortable with the way things were going with Erdogan. At nearly 5’11” and American with striking looks, she was pretty conspicuous, even on the crowded streets of Istanbul. Misses many things about it, though, including weeks-long hikes in Georgia, Macedonia, and southern Turkey. Chicago now.

She didn't happen to occasionally rent out her place in Istanbul on Airbnb? When I was there (must have been 2015, about a month after the attempted coup) the girl who rented to us off Airbnb was a younger, if I recall tallish gal originally from Wisconsin.

Doubt it. She rented and was only there for 3 years. For the last year and a half or so she lived right on the Bosphorus.

You were there during some tense times. Is Stauber 1 your CIA handle? Didn't know they were into UMinn goalies.

Who hurt you, Albania?

Macron raised retirement age without a vote.

france reacting like you’d expect. I wish Americans had a sliver of that in them. Instead we have morons who take to the streets to protect billionaires

There’s a point between those two ideas. I get this impression that Macron was very reluctant in moving from 62 to 64, and only did it because of the math. I won’t pretend to know much more than that about the situation in France.

Correct. The math wasn’t looking great over next ten years

the French do love their protests

Thailand just had an election where the leftish pro-democracy parties finished 1 and 2. The rightwing military government is very unpopular. Most importantly, the more left, younger, more democratic party finished first. The centrist, Democrat-like party finished second, but a distant second.

This is pretty much what would have happened here if we had multiple parties and the 2016 election finished Sanders > Clinton > Dump, but Dump had the support of the army.

Thailand has had 12 military coups in 90 years. That's equivalent to a coup every time the Red Wings win the Stanley Cup.
