The States: Where We Wish Texas Would Secede Already

No, that’d be a heck of a bridge. That was Ketchikan in the Southeast.

Sorry, I have no idea what the distance is between the Aleutians. Is that the equivalent of stringing bridges between the Hawaiian Islands or something?

Note: I am stupid.

The program I work on supports a site on Shemya, AK which is in the Aleutians. It's 1,500 miles form Anchorage.

Oh I know they are a long, long chain, but I didn't know if the individual islands are far apart. All I know about Alaska I learned from Sarah Palin, Northern Exposure, and The Great Race. And those UAF (A?) super cool hockey videos with the bear.

Anchorage to Dillingham is about 330 miles. This earthquake was a further 258 miles from Dillingham.

I didn’t feel anything from it.

Anchorage doesn't matter. I'm talking about the islands. Are these close enough to throw bridges over?

By nearly two orders of magnitude. Isn't FL to Key West only like 8 miles?

There's 7 Mile Bridge (name is length) you see in movies and commercials.

The string of keys (islands) is about 125 miles long (some claim 180 miles).

Florida keys, ... dang, ... why ain't I sitting with a mojito and a six-toed cat right now ...

It's something like three hours to drive from Miami to Key West. You cover some distance... Always been kinda amazed at how spread out and desolate South Florida can be. I always expected to see signs saying "Last Gas Station for XX Miles" in like Nevada or Texas. Never thought I would see that in Florida....

The latest from Texas: The governor is now ordering state troopers to stop any vehicle suspected of transporting migrant "who pose a risk of carrying COVID-19" and send them back or impound the vehicle.

I have so many comments my mind has locked up...

But I am sure that no non-migrants who don't have COVID will be be profiled. At leas thte White Texans can run around spreading the disease...
