Leopards Ate My Face! The Official Thread.

All well and good to say lie to them, promise them anything, just get elected.

Problem is, unlike with Republicans, if the Democrats don't deliver on their promises, the voters just kick them out the next time. "You never did 'nuthin' for me."

No matter how much you did, it's always, well, you promised, and then didn't do anything to help me. Look at Biden's term for just an example. Maybe the best economy we've had for forty years, but all those uninformed voters didn't feel like it was, or they'd rather listen to the guys who tell them that no, it's lousy.

My advice is not to Democrats; it's to those with functioning brains regardless of their policy positions. The fight is not left vs right. Use the left and the right to split derp electoral power, thereby canceling it.

The Voting Rights Act was the highest point of American democracy (fittingly paired with the moon landing, the highest point of American civilization). Thereafter came the reactive erosion of democracy towards mob rule and collapse.

There is no escape from history, but we do know a little bit of political science we didn't used to, and maybe there are ways to engineer around the edges by exploiting that recent self-awareness. Principles are for observers. Participation requires pragmatism: the art of the possible.

So, is there a pragmatically optimal point on the graph above? Yes. As far from the descent into ochlocracy as possible: aristocracy. Its own descent towards oligarchy tends to be slower, allowing more flexibility for resetting actions. Even if the worst occurs, a safety net is spread beneath it in the birth of new democratic impulses, which have healthy and liberating effects on the human spirit.

For a while.

But historically aristocracies have sucked because the ordering principle sucked. Aristocracy of noble birth is a literal genetic dead end in idiocy. Aristocracy of wealth results in the same, culturally -- the Hapsburg jaw traded for the vacuity of fortunate sons and risibly entitled grandsons.

The aristocracy to aim for is intellect. Not merit. There are plenty of morally and ethically superior hardworking morons on Earth, and while they are a precious resource their leadership will naturally favor their own and lead us back to mob rule. Aristocracy of intellect is not morally defensible deontologically. It is strictly utilitarian. (1) It may be the one aristocracy who can still laugh at itself, generation after generation. Nobody is more aware of the clay foot of intellect more than intellect. And (2) it is as close as we can get to an aristocracy that will not abuse their privilege of rule, as we have no interest in power other than self-preservation. Power is inherently... stupid, degrading everyone associated with it. Intellectuals don't care about power except as a means to prevent zealots from using it to set humanity back on the course towards chaos again. What others appear to crave we regard as a sadly necessary annoyance like dental hygiene. Why? Because we're f-cking smarter. We have better things to do than stare at a mirror or buy sh-t. There's stuff to learn and beauty to create. Let the animals have the trappings; just detoxify them by removing them from any influence over us.

No doubt the same problem of erosion towards oligarchy will occur. My selfish argument not to worry about that as much as the decline of other forms is this is my tribe, so exaggeration of our influence hurts me the least. Insofar as I have a selfless pitch, it's that we would see we have as much to lose as everyone else if we let that slide go unabated. In every other case above, the start of the concentration of power will just compound itself. (Note: I believe that's true even in a tyranny of intellect, which distinguishes me from Plato.)

So if that's the goal, how to achieve it? Work with what the local situation gives you. Permeate and co-opt centers of power. Again, the motivating question from walrus: if we're so smart, why aren't we smart enough to use the landscape rather than whine about it? The American landscape is the institutional kabuki of representative democracy pockmarked by the rather more forceful influence of corporate power. Colonize those power centers. Infiltrate them. Take whatever cudgel happens to be at hand and use it to establish a de facto aristocracy of intellect.

Note: do this everywhere. If you're a Russian, cultivate Putin's circle. If you're a Third World warlord, grab a machete and hack your way to the top.

It's worth a try. It gives us something to do other than be morosely distanced and ironic and b-tch while we suffer through this interminable interlude between tall ships and spaceships.

I just wanna know now, what Donnie plans to do about all those schools doing sex change operations. I mean, it's a nationwide scourge, one day little Jimmy goes to school, and little Julie comes home.

What's Donnie gonna do to stop that?

As a former health teacher I was so pissed off about this especially...and what's worse? People BELIEVE this! They VOTED for this. God help us...

Its more than that though Kepler, we need to take the few advantages we have and not only cultivate them but exploit them. Some are already starting to show by nature of who we are dealing with...

The only thing that these people hate more than us are each other. Throughout history you see that when authoritarians fall it is as much about the infighting as it is about the revolution. These people crave power and they don't like to share it and they will stab each other other to get closer to the man pulling the strings. They trust no one, they like no one and they will protect no one. Trump hasn't even taken power yet and you can see the fighting starting already. I guarantee half the information the media is getting about the nominees is coming from inside the house. When Kash Patel is in charge of the FBI he is going to make J. Edgar Hoover look like Jimmy Carter. Throw in a House that is nearly 50/50 and a Senate Leadership that openly didn't support Trump and there is a lot of bad juju swirling around. It won't fix anything now but when the economy tanks and the people are angry the pressure will get to them and we need to be ready to exploit that when it happens.

The other thing we need to do...stop pussyfooting around it and just go full Progressive. The "run to the center" BS worked for Biden because Trump was so chaotic people got mad but it killed Harris because Americans are stupid. (they were trying to do what you are suggesting by campaigning with Republicans...and sadly it hurt more than helped because even The Left is stupid as has been shown around here by a certain poster who returned I hear) No more passive answers, no more trying to make sure "The Middle" isn't scared away (they are too selfish to be scared...they just want theirs) and no more talking about what the GOP is going to do. (or is doing) Dont let the voters/media focus on anything except what you are doing and what you are giving them. No more talk of bipartisanship in the past or the future. Make it plain and simple...dumb it down so even the morons understand. And when the media starts to turn attack them. Trump wants to jail them and they still coddle him...meanwhile they forced Biden to quit because he didn't do enough interviews with them and they cultivated a BS narrative about Harris because their owners wanted better ratings with Trump. (they forgot that we are smart enough we dont need them to know what is going on) So when they do that in 2/4 years tell them to phuck off.

Which actually brings me to the last thing we need...our own alternative methods of media. Some are forming but we need more. We need ways to get the message out there without the gatekeepers. The Right has dozens of them (many cultivated by Russia) and we need to fight fire with fire. In a world where people believe podcasts over experts its time to meet the idiots where they are the most...their phones.

As a former health teacher I was so ****ed off about this especially...and what's worse? People BELIEVE this! They VOTED for this. God help us...

These are the same people who believed that we (teachers) were putting kitty litter in our classes because students identified as cats...

(I heard lots of so called liberals buy into this one as well)

If there’s anyone that really needs to have their faces eaten it’s the Bernie bros that are gleefully celebrating the defeat of the “liberals” and blaming the “evil DNC” for blocking Bernie back in 2016.

Don't get me started on them...bunch of White Priviledged frauds who justify other people suffering in the name of their cause dujour. (I say this as a Bernie voter)

They aren't the worst though...the "Anti-Zionist" crowd that fell for Russian Propaganda on Tik Tock and protested on campuses are the ones that really get my hackles to rise. Not because of the BS accusations of antisemitism (though some of that was there) or even because I support Israel (which I definitely do not) but because they were getting played hard and they either were too stupid to realize it or too lazy to do even the bare minimum of critical thinking. I get that when you are that young things are black and white, but you are supposed to be educated people...you should realize there is more nuance to the fight than just "Israel Bad Palestine good!". Then again to them the 1990s is ancient history so how are we to expect them to understand a conflict that has been going on since 1948 or the 1800s? Hell to those clowns I bet they believe most other Muslims support Palestine because again, they are too stupid to research it. Ask the Egyptians what they think about Palestine (how much have they helped Gaza...answer NONE) or Lebanon or the Jordanians. Funny how Qatar kicked Hamas out as soon as Trump won...I wonder why that is.

And the thing is, it isn't just that they fell for the BS, but they allowed themselves to be riled up to the point of proving what the GOP was saying. They made themselves look antisemetic and mob like by repeating pretty vile things, dressing up in terrorist garb and causing havoc way beyond what was needed to get the point across. They allowed themselves to be seen as part of an organized effort to harass and hurt Jews in America, many of whom (like myself and most of my friends) find what Israel is doing disgusting. They didn't organize it, hell I bet most didn't know it was happening, but enough did that it gave an Israel loving media and the GOP ammo to go after the colleges and the protestors. These morons never even had the brain capacity to go back and see what happened in the 1960s. They got played and it was obvious almost from the jump. And it will be even more obvious when next year you won't hear much protesting. (and not out of fear of Trump either)

To be clear I support protests and protest votes...what I don't support is hypocrisy. And every one of those White Bourgeois dbags can eat a bag of dicks. Hey genius how about instead of sticking your nose into a conflict you know nothing about you deal with the fact that everything you own, the school that you attend, and the power that you have comes from your ancestors raping and pillaging. Your arguments fall on deaf ears when you rail against "Zionist Colonizers" while standing on the land we stole from the Native Americans. You don't get to wipe the psychic trauma away that easily. Maybe spend more time worrying about what is going on here because the consequences of your protest votes isn't that Gaza is better off (good lord it isn't...I weep for the death that is about to befall them because of our hubris) and now neither are Blacks, Latinos, Women, LGBTQ+, Jews, Muslims, Native Americans, Asians...etc. in this country. Way to cut off your nose to spite your face...I hope Trump deports you like he wants to.

I don't care how bad Hamas or Hezbollah are, nothing justifies what Israel has been doing to Palestine.

I think there’s aspect that a lot of people on both sides are missing: job losses and unemployment.

You see it a lot on the r/leopardsatyface. They talk about the deportations and how it’ll be impossible to replace workers in those low paying jobs, especially with low unemployment.

You dummies, what do you think the tariffs part of the plan is? They want a recession, they want job losses, they want people desperate. Workers have spent the last 2 years clawing back marginal victories and now the ruling class wants to win those back.

And TPTB don't like the white collar gains made via job hopping any more than the blue collar gains made via organizing and collective bargaining.

I don't disagree. I think everyone above middle management in that country should be sent to The Hague and tried as war criminals. (honestly war criminals is putting it to mildly) That is not the point I was making though.

I mean...they told us as much. Both Musk and Trump said the economy would need to be destroyed to fix it. See that was one of the things "they were just saying" not the stuff they are actually going to do. #ThingsTrumpersBelieve

Most of us (and the majority of the people who post on that sub) understand the game they are playing. The morons who either didn't vote or voted for Trump think we are just going to go back to the 1980s...the problem is they are off by a century. They want to return to The Gilded Age.

Low unemployment won't be the issue, even when there is high unemployment Americans dont want to do those jobs even when the pay is ok. Deportations will happen, but prison work will become the new slavery. (btw prisoners rejected it too) If we don't fix this and soon we will be living in a Tennessee Ernie Ford song...

Some people say a man is made outta mud
A poor man's made outta muscle and blood
Muscle and blood and skin and bones
A mind that's a-weak and a back that's strong

You load 16 tons, what do you get?
Another day older and deeper in debt
St. Peter, don't you call me 'cause I can't go
I owe my soul to the company store

I was born one mornin' when the sun didn't shine
I picked up my shovel and I walked to the mine
I loaded 16 tons of number nine coal
And the straw boss said, "Well, a-bless my soul"

You load 16 tons, what do you get?
Another day older and deeper in debt
St. Peter, don't you call me 'cause I can't go
I owe my soul to the company store

I was born one mornin', it was drizzlin' rain
Fightin' and trouble are my middle name
I was raised in the canebrake by an ol' mama lion
Can't no high toned woman make me walk the line

You load 16 tons, what do you get?
Another day older and deeper in debt
St. Peter, don't you call me 'cause I can't go
I owe my soul to the company store

If you see me comin', better step aside
A lotta men didn't, a lotta men died
One fist of iron, the other of steel
If the right one don't get you
Then the left one will

You load 16 tons, what do you get?
Another day older and deeper in debt
St. Peter, don't you call me 'cause I can't go
I owe my soul to the company store

I don't disagree but that is how terrorism works. Maybe one day we will all not get sucked into it, but Hamas accomplished their mission. Notice how no one is talking about the relations that were supposed to happen between Saudi Arabia and Israel now. And no one is trying to take Bibi to court anymore.

As an already unemployed person I can’t wait!

Yes. The Authoritarian Project puts people at cross-purposes. Power concentrations check each other because of MAD: any one that becomes too strong is instantly targeted for extinction by the others. Corruption is not just rife because of the type of people who self-select as authoritarian principals. It continually dominates behavior because laxity helps the whole: universal guilt makes everyone have to operate surreptiously and poisons cooperation that could threaten The Project. Paranoia reigns. There is no honor among thieves.

Now add the malignant narcissism of the major actors, not to mention their ineptitude, and you get all the dysfunction of a violent, ignorant crime family with incessant fear, treachery, and vengeance.

This is why the leaks started and stopped when the Trump admin did. It's why books have been written about the chaos.

The only thing we have going for us is their incompetence and lust for power.

If we don't give in to fear we can survive this. The other thing about Authoritarians is they tend not to do much and count on our laziness and fear to make sure they go unchecked and they accumulate power. This means people in the Administrative State must not quit, make them fire you and if they dont keep pushing back on every inch they try and take until they do fire you. Make them work for it.

As for the books, that was just greed. Every one of those pr!cks could have stopped this but didn't so they could cash out. That includes people like Bob Woodward.
