2024 Elections: One Last Chance for Democracy

And walz has scheduled events next week, so it sounds like Shapiro.

I was really hoping for walz, beshear, or Pete. I could be very wrong but I don’t see Shapiro doing as well in Wisconsin and Michigan

The story itself (the cover up, if there was) is kinda gross sounding but tough to really get much information on. The double standard is also gross - "I can't vote for Harris because her VP maybe covered for a friend who did awful things to women, so I'll vote for a rapist instead."


Regardless, I'm sorta coming around against Shapiro. Maybe with more time and vetting the story itself we could go with him, but the fact is this choice needs to be made immediately and they cannot get it wrong.

Normally I don't think a VP candidate does much of anything unless they are from a swing state and they might help to deliver it. But Swan is 100% right, we can't get this one wrong. Whoever she picks has got to be squeaky-clean.

Mayor Pete is who I prefer, but for his orientation. Yes, we do still live in a racist, homophobic, misogynistic country.

One of my union's most active leaders is homophobic. Because of their religion I suspect. Yet this person checks every other progressive box as far as I can tell. And I fear there are a lot of people who we absolutely must need to make it to the polls who would vote for Harris who feel similarly. That scares me. We can't afford to lose any of them, especially in places like Michigan, Pennsylvania, Georgia, or Arizona.

Then again if this country can't vote for someone for such a stupid reason, do we even deserve to have a country?

Mayor Pete is sometimes a paradox for me. When he was my mayor -- and I voted for him twice -- I was less than impressed. He was a mediocre mayor at best. Mostly he was going to get my vote because I'd sooner root for Michigan than vote for a republican. But as a candidate for president, a cabinet secretary, and now as an attack dog for first Biden and now Harris, I love the dude! He's pure gold. He would also make a great VP and a great president. It sure would be nice to live in a country where who he shares his life with didn't matter. Somehow MAGAts think trump's love life is somehow pure and upstanding compared to Mayor Pete's. And people wonder why I want all the MAGAts to just f uc k off and die.
 
Yeah, I think Shapiro is disappointing. Not sure what polling they have to suggest that's a good idea.

Maya Rudolph is going to play Kamala Harris on SNL for the election. That's good news. She does a very good job on that impression.

A very meh pick that I worry dampens the enthusiasm a bit.
 
This had better guarantee us PA because man, the dude just doesn't have much else to point to and say "Yeah, he could be president."
 
FWIW, PA is all that matters. We can afford to lose Michigan. We cannot afford PA without GA or NC. And PA is by far the most likely to go blue.

So look, win PA, get the White House, lock him in his room at the Naval Observatory.

I think he’ll be fine as veep, just turns off some segments. It’s not so much a bad pick as a meh.
 
I think people are reading a bit too much into things...not saying he won't be the guy but there is a lot of connecting dots in this prediction. Same stuff that was said a week ago.

The problem is there is no way you are going to find someone who doesn't have some negative, or if you do it could backfire like Tim Kaine did. No one cares about squeaky clean (I mean for God sakes Trump has run 3 times now!) it just matters that they can survive the media digging or the comments that come from it. The harassment might make a dent for a second but that will be outshined by whatever Vance says tomorrow or all of Trump's issues.

I have said it a dozen times, Pete is my choice but I fear NDhockeyguy is correct. I think there is a lot of people in the old Biden coalition and in the "double haters" that are still too Godly to elect a Gay Man. Disgusting...but likely true.

Shapiro's approval rating is above 60 in Pennsylvania...so I get it. Trump has few roads to victory without Pennsylvania. Shapiro has done a bit of damage control on Israel by attacking Bibi and Trumps 0% with Black People in Detroit should be enough to offset any protest non-voting if it becomes a problem. (I would hope Veep would matter less to them than the President who obviously is much harder on Israel)

It makes sense why people would think he is the frontrunner...if you can get Harris about 4% higher in Pennsylvania its basically game over for Trump. I doubt Shapiro hurts much in WI...and I doubt he will drag MI down that much. He does give energized speeches which is nice too. Not my personal choice and I dont much buy it yet but there are worse candidates. He checks off a lot of boxes that others dont. Walz would be great fun to watch but I am not sure what he brings other than awesome interviews.
 
So according to Faux all men who vote for a woman "have mommy issues" or "transition to a woman".

So Dem women are cat ladies.
Dem men are women or have daddy issues.
Harris isn't Black.
Harris is the candidate because she is a Black Woman.

Some platform you cucks have eh dropthepuck, Chuckles and Whalers? When you cant argue the issues you project your frailities on others! And the GOP wonders why they lose so often.
