Paris Olympics

At least the Italian has apologized. Doubtful anyone else does though.

That may be the headline, but from what I've seen as part of a report, the bigger problem is a REAL differences between the boxing federations and the Olympic committee. As in the relationship is so bad, they are even lucky that the Olympic committee put together their own organizers to make sure boxing is one of the sports. It's possible that boxing gets dropped in 2028 given how they are "working" together. Maybe not likely, but just considering how boxing has been a huge part of the Olympics and now it's really having problems... geez.

And lost to a small North African team. Yay. Such an inspiring accomplishment.

Given the last 30 years of hype, when can we expect to have a chance to win? The talk was almost all about “growing the sport” as if *this* time making it this far will matter.

Or is US soccer just like fusion? Will get there in 10 years just like 10 years ago.

FWIW, 2002 they should've made the semis. They out played the Germans in the quarters and but for a missed handball on the line, probably advance and would've had a strong chance against Korea to make the finals.

USWNT moves on to the semis with a 1-0 extra time win over Japan on a great goal by Rodman in the first half of ET.

They’ll have a rematch against Germany who advanced on penalties after a 0-0 draw against Canada. US beat them 3-1 in the group.

Too bad Canada couldn't spy on Germany to learn about their penalty kicking tendencies...

Richardson gets silver in the women’s 100m. That’s a disappointment. She a world champion in this event.

Just saw the replay of it- it really wasn't even close. Alfred dominated the race.

Something to bring up next time we are in St. Lucia.

Women's basketball wins their 58th Olympic game in a row to cap off 3-0 in group play, though if France beats Australia by 17 they would not be the top seed going into the knockout round.

Question after the Men's 10K and with the marathon upcoming:

Are running shoes with those proprietary carbon fiber inserts still a thing and giving those that are affiliated with companies that produce them like a 4-7% peformane boost? Or has the Track & Field sanctioning body nuked that idea and made it so the stuff is available to everyone or no one?

Yes, they are. This is very informative- https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=pfIWxFIVP_Y&ab_channel=CleoAbram

Someone needs to explain how Jordan Childs went from 4th to 3rd like that for the floor finals. Something odd happened there.

The poor Romanian girl was up on the "stage" waving her country's flag celebrating.

From what I understand, they basically called for a "VAR" review. The review found the degree of difficulty was higher than originally scored. Ergo, the higher score.

But a) the optics look bad and b) there has to be a better process to go about that. (To be fair, when the initial score was announced, both Childs and her coach were quite animated as if they felt something wasn't right from the get go.)

Soccer is #1 in Brazil but volleyball is definitely #2. Crowds have been electric for volleyball.
