If Maine doesn’t make the NCAA tournament from here I think it will be very hard to lay the blame on their performance in the hockey east tournament. Something around .500 the rest of the way should be enough.

Geezus you nervous Nancys. Maine will win the rest of all their games up to the NCAA championship then gack a furball against the cheeseheads in the BIG ONE. Thats all you need to know or worry about.;-)

Wonder if we see Boija in net Friday night? Are Renwick and Arnott back in the line up?

Barr said in coach show everyone is ready to play. Someone posted picture if Renwick in a regular jersey during practice last week.

Boija could develop into decent reliable goalie, hope he sticks around for a few years. They probably have to start him one game, victor has the yips.

I think you do see both share the net for the next few weeks...it could be beneficial for both and the team down the stretch.

Saturday at UMass is the biggest test left on the schedule so play whichever goalie gives you the best chance. Right now I lean Boija.

Side note, I tuned in to a UMass game earlier this year and was really impressed with the broadcast. Can we get better cameras in the Alfond already?

If you think that is your biggest test left you are going to be in for a shock if not prepared for Providence. UNH is not an easy out either but the one that will sneak up on you is Northeastern. They are far better than their record.

I agree with you that PC is the best remaining opponent on Maine's schedule, but I also agree with McGovern that UMA is the biggest "test" left, on the grounds that they have to go to Amherst while against PC they are home at Alfond.

I think he is factoring in where the game is played. The UMass game this weekend is at their rink. Whereas, the two Providence and two UMass games later in the season are at Alfond. With Providence and UMass ranked 10 and 11, you can see the logic that this game this weekend is hardest test.

I think even though UNH is lower ranked they are rival games. Maine beat UNH twice already this year, so imagine they will be out for bear.

I’m looking forward to Friday. This might be the only time the team is fully healthy. I am guessing Renwick and Arnott are back in the line up. Renwick can add more skill and physical. Arnott some good offense from blue line. I’m guessing Renwick plays on a line with Poisson and Hanson?? And Arnott bumps Hopkins down to 7th defensemen. Should be a little boost to the line up.

And I would try Boija Friday and if he’s awesome play him Sunday too. But if he is average then go back to Ostman. I want to see if Boija higher save percentage is real or not. If it goes steady with him at .930 then this would be an outstanding improvement.

Yeah this was pretty much the logic. Both PC and UMass are tough opponents, but Alfond Arena is such a massive advantage.

The Whitt is going to be a madhouse, but UNH might be trending backwards. It's hard to say just looking at results.

Plus UNH is giving out those thunder sticks(noisemakers) again at the Whitt for the Maine games. Those games are listed as sold out. So should be awesome atmosphere.

Rest of the schedule has tough games written all over it...no teams are going to roll over,if anything with Maine's rankings/standings and pwr it will be a bigger incentive to beat up on Maine.

That's true. Even Vermont is scrappier than usual. PC still has a chance to get the 3 seed so I expect them to throw their best punch.

From the preview… “Maine has not won at Matthews Arena since a 7-1 win on Feb. 25, 2012, going 0-13-2 there since then”.

Imagine this will be motivation for the blackbears.

Any of the teams remaining big and physical? If so I expect them to give Maine fits. Also Goaltending for Maine hasn't been great lately so might have to score 4 or 5 goals to win.

Providence and Vermont for both height and weight.

Maine is the shortest in hockey east. I’m ok with that. I’d love to see an entire set of forwards built like Breen and Nadeau’s. A whole pack of little buzz saws and killer bees.

As a BC fan, welcome to the club. Being near the top is a target on your back.
