BU '23-'24 Season: Pandomania

Bentley was on a 5 min PP ages ago. BU had possession most of it...regardless of SOG during it. Bentley didn't really threaten on that one until the end.

Ok..I may be confused here. Flo is being sketchy about where they put the PP timer clock tonight...

sorry for confusion

And it took awhile but they cracked Hasley finally. 3-2 OT win for the Terriers!

Yes, on a 4-3 PP because of a horrible call over 3 minutes into OT. Either BU played really poorly or Bentley played better than anyone expected tonight, probably some of both. But if BU has national championship aspirations this season, they will need to play a lot better going forward.

I’m pissed. I expected them to play a perfect game in game #1. Fire Jay!! : )

Did they win? Deep yoga breath. It’s a long season. It’s college sports. Lots of new players and new lines. It’ll takes some time to gell.

I am curious what those there saw and will be eagerly listening to Jay’s post game comments.

BU Hockey: Moral Loss.

That was not pleasant. OK so, Bentley was obviously pumped, sold out crowd, etc. But BU was sloppy, lots of giveaways, pucks jumping off of sticks. I think they didn’t take Bentley very seriously. No one other than Caron really stood out for me. Arghh - this team never wins after being ranked #1. Glad that’s out of the way. Maybe that will help settle them down.

Yes, it’s basically a glorified tie, but we do get a few extra points for the OT win. I expected more since the talent gap was huge, but like you said it’s a first night game on Oct 7. Obviously room for improvement. There will be improvement and Jay will get them there. I guess goaltending was a positive which is very important going forward.

It wasn't great, but it wasn't a disaster. If this game occurred on December 7 or January 7, I'd be very concerned. But it's the first game and there was no exhibition to wipe of the rust. Have to see if this was first game rust or indicative of true weak spots.

It's fine if they want to list Mack's line 3rd on the line sheet, but he absolutely must play top line minutes. He was the best skater on the ice tonight - impacts the game in countless ways with and without the puck.

BU had first game jitters and everyone was squeezing their sticks too hard. Nothing smooth about our passing. Bentley was hustling, pressuring BU all the time, blocking a ton of shots, very tenacious and surprisingly good. Lachance is a beast in front of the net. We've found a big talented body to step into Skoog's shoes.

pretty disappointing result with not our best effort
Thought the Zabaneh-Peterson-Tuch line was pretty invisible after showing strong connection last year
Surprised that harvey was not in the line-up
most positive was play of goaltending- most disappointing was power play unit- had 5 man advantage and failed to capitalize
Bentley has a beautiful small rink and it was terrific atmosphere and a boost for their program following loss of coach

should serve as strong wakeup call for team
You can have highly touted players but other teams have transfers and older players
no slam dunks
Terrific weekend for hockey east which is always good for pairwise later in season

What about that parking situation at Bentley it was a free for all. Rink is nice reminds me of Harvard better top viewing then HAA. Comforting to see Caron solid and he takes up a lot of the net. Where’s Harvey thats disappointing. Grimes was lost what kind of pedigree does he have ? Lachance I liked his role. Hutson must have had the puck on his stick half the game but I would like to see more quick bang bang plays I think he lulls his teammates to sleep sometime. Celebrini was everything I expected and he hustled his butt off to thwart a breakaway after he gave the puck up at the blue line. Kaplan with a couple of dumb plays as expected. Need more out of line #1.

I saw a lot of Red in the crowd so it was sold out but not entirely a Bentley crowd.

They started strong and organized. Had the 2-0 lead and sort of let their foot off the gas. By the time they got reorganized it was 2-2 and Bentley's goalie was suddenly standing on his head.

It's definitely a wake up call that if they want to be all they're being touted to be, they're gonna have to play solid the entire time on the ice. No coasting.

BUPhd: on that play, there was no call against Kaplan, since he was clearly pushed into the goalie. In fact there was no call at all initially. Then BU challenged for a 5-min penalty against the Bentley player that pulled off Kaplan's helmet during the scrum. They reviewed it and agreed, and BU got a five minute PP out of it.

Was expecting a different score but I'll take a road win. Bentley's new coach came from UML and he had his boys playing a similar defensive style. Credit to them. I'm sure we'll drop in the polls and that is fine - we all know that poles don't matter :-)

Great night for Hockey East - as much as I would prefer that BC lose that game, their win I assume will help us more eventually in the PWR.

The three freshmen d struggled and therefore we went to 4 for the third period. Willander should change that equation.

I am guessing Harvey gets in the next game. The coaches may want to see what all off these guys can do over the first few games, without playing too many of them at once. One positive out if that - I though Amonte looked better than he ever has at BU.

Just saw the clip - while it was Kaplan that had his helmet ripped off, it was Lachance that was knocked into the goalie.
