I'm currently watching coverage of the Bass Pro Tour's event on Cayuga Lake in New York. Basically the entire lake in covered with 1/4 mile visibility or less due to the smoke. It's lake a misty, foggy morning, but with 47% humidity.

Seattle and Portland were absolutely terrible the last two summers with smoke from BC. It’s a regular occurrence in Anchorage and Fairbanks. I’d certainly bet places like Boise and SLC can get pretty bad.

I live about an hour and 20 south east of Boise. It can get very bad both from the California through BC fires and local ones. On a clear day I can see mountain peaks about 90 minutes north and 45 minutes south no problem. During the fire season you will rarely see them. I recall one bad year being in the Sawtooth mountains themselves at the base of even just 7-8,000 foot mountains and not being able to see the top half. Everything can just be in a haze here for a month or more. Sometimes it clears out with a good wind though.

Yeah, Anchorage can get the same way.

Well, you see, now it's starting to affect people.
 
Kids girlfriend works in Manhattan, she posted pics of the skyline yesterday, can’t see shit. Wearing masks again. The one good thing about our current weather pattern, 50s and rain for the last week or so, counterclockwise rotation has kept the smoke out of here. We did get some from Nova Scotia but the rain took care of that.
