It is terrible out there...so glad people mocked Global Warming for decades because they couldn't see it in real time. I hope everyone who votes Republican chokes.

Locally, the people moaning near me about the air are also the ones who scream whenever we bring up banning gas powered leaf blowers that pollute and make a deafening noise all day

Jesus f-ck I just walked outside and it looks like the world is about to end. I've seen the sky before big storms and this is that.

Jesus Christ, do weather stations measure absolute volume for thunder?

We just got a strike so strong the thunder may have broken our window. It sounded like our roof collapsed.

I'd check for tree damage nearby once it passes. Could have been a tree falling that caused some of the noise. That's pretty insane.

The rainy season appears to be officially upon us here, and it's amazing how quickly the switch can be flipped from absolutely no rain for 5 months and oppressive heat into non-stop rain and cooler temps. The number of days in which there's a happy medium is currently at 0.

Phoenix rolling 24-hour mean has now exceeded 100 degrees for 390 consecutive hours, dating back to July 1. Peak was on 7/15 when it reached 106.5

Local max for that interval is only 117. Pfft. Amateurs.

Looks like we might be able to keep it up for another 250 hours or so.

I experienced a few similar stretches when I lived in Bahrain, although I don't recall exactly if the L was always >100 without factoring in the Heat Index.

Well, it has dropped below 100, but the 24-hr mean hasn't.

I remember about 1993 a friend who had moved to Phoenix called me at 2 a.m. raving it was 101 and he had gotten drunk and would not get sober until after an entire day passed where it didn't break 100. As I recall, he only stayed drunk for about 4 days. Those were better days.

Keep in mind, we've been under a fairly long La Niña pattern which means, generally, wetter years for the Midwest. That would explain the deviation the last several years. That changes this year.

Even with that neither of those tables suggest to me that over the long-term that winter/spring/fall has been worse.
