The GQP Thread: I'm even sick of that fuck's number and, anyway, he's gone (for now)

This is really interesting. Go to about the 50 minute mark. There are studies which suggest that rhetoric like white replacement theory or anti-Semitic or misogynistic rhetoric, even when rejected, condition respondents to give farther right opinions on other issues. For example, by starting with the framing of America being majority minority in 2040, you get the average voter who does not agree with white replacement theory to doubt climate change more, be more anti-immigrant, be for larger defense budgets and lower social spending.

So these are basically stalking horses. They don't matter in of themselves, but they prime the audience to move into a paranoid mindset which is then vulnerable to right wing authoritarianism.

Read through the original thread the video is from, JFC it’s depressing. Why would anyone want to live in Texas?

I met a very liberal mother of one of the bridesmaids at a wedding I was at. She ended up moving to Austin Texas recently. An oasis of liberalism in a horrible state. I told her point blank I would never move there. She said she was at least lucky enough to live in Austin but she understood. She moved there for her job.

Lol trump calls Mitch’s wife “crazy” and when asked to comment, Mitch just said “no.”

Well there’s no hope for Buffalo area Republicans if they send dickhead Carl Paladino to Congress

Thankfully he lost the primary. In other news, Pat Ryan (D) beat Marc Molinaro (R) in a special to replace Antonio Delgado, who became Lt. Governor. The district was highly contentious because of redistricting, and it was drawn to be R+4. Ryan will run in the same district in the fall, and Molinaro will switch to the new district.

That’s a big win for Democrats.

That’s a big win for Democrats.

Not sure if the special was under the new district lines or old ones, but Ryan was able to stave off absentee and mail in votes from three of the reddest counties in the Capital Region that are part of his district. Good news as Ryan is a veteran, as is Josh Riley, the D candidate running against Molinaro in the new district. Maybe Molinaro isn’t a good candidate, he was blown out by Andrew Cuomo in 2018.

What is with these Republican men and their inability to defend their wives?

In this case I think the only correct move is to not play Dump's game, and McConnell and Chao know it. They can't beat him in a war of words, the Dump base already hates McConnell and their sole raison d'etre is their rageaholism. They love to feel angry, it gives them focus. So by not responding they don't feed the news cycle and it dies on the vine overnight.
