The GQP Thread: I'm even sick of that fuck's number and, anyway, he's gone (for now)

We all know that polls have ceased to be the most reliable measure of what the public really thinks, but that doesn't mean they provide no useful data. The Gallup poll regarding party preferences in U.S. politics should frighten everyone to their core.

To me it points to both the growing concern that the Democrats have almost completely squandered any opportunity for putting this country on a better path politically, and that nearly 50% of this country is bat 5h!t crazy.

Republicans -- save for about the 7 or 8 elected to public office left in the entire country that are still tethered to reality -- have offered nothing in the way of a path forward to better the country. It is all the Big Lie, guns, God and the Gays with them. That's all there is. Yet the shift from Democrats to republicans is one of the largest seen in decades. Democrats will lose the U.S. House in the November mid-terms. With it will likely come an even stronger presence for republicans in state houses all over the country. And despite a very tough map in the U.S. Senate for republicans, I doubt very much the Democrats are going to hold on there either.

It is not surprising to me at all that the republican party did not lose any real favor in the 1980s or 1990s. Even when W was proving he was neither compassionate, nor conservative in the sense republicans like to think of themselves as conservatives I was not surprised to see them continue to win, and in some case win big. But after the last 6 years, when it has been completely exposed that the republican party is anti-democratic and completely bigoted, and let's face it, not just anti-democratic but full-on fascist, how can it be even more palatable to so many people?

Tell me there is a workable political solution to the troubles we face. I would like to believe in something positive. It already feels like we're not gonna have any Major League Baseball this year.

Political affiliation doesn't have anything to do with job performance anymore. It's purely tribal. You don't switch from Italian to Polish, you are what you are and now politics in the US is purely about demographics. It's poor uneducated whites (45% of the population) plus ultrarich sociopathic whites (75% of the wealth) against the rest of us. It's an even match. But nothing's going to change -- every election will be 49-49 because even though the GOP dies off a net 1% each cycle their vote suppression pulls us down by that same 1%.

The workable solution is keep fighting and eventually we will have 50 real Democrats in the Senate and we can pass a real VRA that does to today's Republican Jim Crow what the 1965 VRA did to Democrat Jim Crow.

Just don't give up. It's going to be a long, brutal fight. The Senate will soon be 40% of the population with 60% of the Senators -- but even LIBERAL flatland hayseeds still support that which is both sick and funny. That is eventually what has to be fixed. But obviously that will not be fixed until it is so bad the middle class can either fix it or lose everything -- another 16 years or so should do the trick.

My advice if you're anti-Nazi, is:
  • If you're rich: swamp every election with your money. Buy seats, just like the bad guys do.
  • If you're middle class: you're not middle class. It's a myth. You're either rich or working class, so pick a lane.
  • If you're working class: protest, boycott as you are able, organize and demand better working conditions, educate your fellow workers.
  • If you're outcast: if you have no job and no hope, then riot. But march to the rich neighborhood. Burn their houses, not your own.

Youngkin in VA has a tipline to report any teachers or administrators who are "behaving in any disturbing way as for example teaching divisive topics."

To all Republicans, on behalf of my teacher daughter: I pray you all die in pain, miserable, impoverished, alone, and aware of your utter lack of value, and knowing you will remembered alongside the Klan and Nazis, except as pathetic clowns. The world will only improve with your extinction. Hasten unto the day.

SJHovey thinks that is just more pearl clutching.

Personally, I would have every Family of Color call the tip line and report things every damned day from now until they take the tipline down. Then I would have them go to the press.

You seem to spend an inordinate amount of time thinking about, or speculating on, my thoughts on particular subjects.

Rand Paul said during an interview on OAN:

"These are the people who think we're a bunch of rubes in fly-over country, and they have utter disdain for us. These are the people who would actually limit our access to treatment for Covid. They are, right now, as we speak, limiting monoclonal antibodies being sent to Florida. Too many deplorables, too many Republicans, too many conservatives are getting sick, and so their way to punish us is by not sending treatments and I think it's abominable."

Hey, Rand Paul. Go fuck yourself.

I know he knows this, but they're limiting supplies to Florida (and everywhere) because:
  • Most of the medications in the cocktail do nothing against Omicron (in fact, the FDA is dropping the EUA for most of them).
  • The one medication that does work against Omicron is in extremely short supply.
But hey. Why accept the truth when you can just lie about it.

And raise money from the fuckwits while doing so.
