NHL 2019-20 #1: Where Toronto Plans To Win Without Playing Defense.

The two hubs for the playoffs are Edmonton and Toronto. NHL was hoping to toss Vegas another bone but didn't forgot that Vegas opened their casinos last month with no social distancing or masks and was probably confirmed by the fact that Europe views America as a giant Petri dish and the players could never go home.
A few thoughts:

1. Seems pretty sure that Rogers will be handling all the production. Probably a small NBC crew at each site but going off of the Sportsnet feed.

2. To that end, no surprise seeing Toronto picked. Everything media in Canada, with a few exceptions, is done in Toronto.

3. Edmonton is a bit surprising, most Western Canada media is done out of Calgary or Vancouver, though it wouldn’t be difficult to get things to Edmonton.

4. How effed up is America right now that even the NHL, probably the worst run of the major sports leagues, is saying “no thanks”?

How bad were all of the cities hit? Maybe Vancouver being closer to Seattle puts it more at risk, so they tossed a coin on which Alberta city to use?

Looks worse in Alberta than BC actually.

The froggies got nailed, presumably for failure to wash.
Not surprising in Alberta, it’s basically Texas with hockey and snow.

Quebec is apparently because their Provincial response has been terrible.

When we were up in Lake Louise we would listen to terrestrial radio while driving. They had local yokel Canuck versions of Rush who were just as stupid, with all the same idiocy. Apparently rural people everywhere fall for the same obvious nonsense. They also had Canadian versions of fire and brimstone preachers, which was like the scene at the start of Children of the Corn but I assume that was wafting over from Saskatchewan.

Doubtful, everything I know of Canada is that the more right wing derp stuff comes from either Alberta or the Letterkenny parts of Ontario.

I just assumed it was from the prairies, not the mountains. Farmers with their derpy rain gods.

I don't know how tight the bubble is supposed to be or if it's even big enough to hold everyone, but there is a hotel connected to Edmonton's arena. Probably didn't play that much of a factor, but who knows.

Also, it's very hard to search for a Rogers sports building. Rogers Arena is in Vancouver, Rogers Place is in Edmonton, and Rogers Centre is in Toronto.

According to Bob McKenzie, it sounds like NHL Players may be going back to the Olympics in 2022 and 2026.

Jeremy roenick suing nbc for discrimination- says he was fired because he is straight.

I shit you not, last December as a bunch of people got up and argued in front of City Hall that Holland (MI) needed to add LGBT to the non-discrimination ordinance, someone got up and claimed "heterophobia" is a thing. I'm sure JR sides with that guy.

I can't really hear what Jeremy says, because the Red Wings' Stanley Cup rings are plugging my ears.

Him crying while watching "his" Blackhawks hoist the Stanley Cup was over the top hilarious.

The Blackhawks actually winning it thrice in the last decade, not so much.

Alright. I'm a little disappointed in the lack of PNW green, but I love the S logo. It eludes to the indigenous designs of the area, the negative space in the S is a tentacle, the bright red eye in the S, and it's all a callback to the Seattle Metropolitans logo.

And the Space Needle / anchor secondary logo? Awesome.

I'm all in.

"S is for Sieve" is all I can think of at the moment, ha ha...

Overall I like it. The blue scheme works and I do like how the character is worked into the design of the "S".

**thumbs up**
