Biden’s student loan forgiveness is being challenged in court by a handful of states led by Republicans.* From the little I’ve read on the case, and the even littler I know about law, suits like this are either a) tossed on account of the plaintiff not having standing, and/or b) States have lost before when challenging lost revenues in court. But, that doesn’t take into account c) The Supreme Court is made up of Republicans hellbent on destroying democracy, with no anchor to stare decisis, so if it makes to the Supreme Court, one poster on here will likely say that Biden was baited.
*I know there’s two other challenges as well, but again, from the little I’ve read, of any of the three with the best chance at even achieving standing, it’s this one, since a judge could overlook imperfect standing to use the case to overrule Biden’s broad powers he used as a result of the extraordinary circumstances of the pandemic created by some law called the HEROES Act created entirely too recently for Alito et al. in 2003.
