In a major blow for Russian President Vladimir Putin, a huge explosion has severely damaged the only bridge connecting the annexed Crimean peninsula with the Russian mainland, paralyzing a key supply route for Moscow’s faltering war in Ukraine.

The blast early Saturday caused parts of the Kerch Strait road and rail bridge – opened by Putin himself in 2018 – to collapse, images and video from the scene showed. At least three people were killed in the explosion, Russian officials said, citing preliminary information.

The exact cause of the blast at Europe’s longest bridge is yet to be confirmed. Russian officials said a truck exploded, causing Crimea-bound sections of theroad part of the bridge to collapse. A subsequent fire engulfed a train of fuel tanks on a separate, adjacent rail portion of the bridge.

This is the bridge which Ukraine has been very publicly NOT bombing, in order to give the Russians an escape route. I guess they went to Plan B.

Ukrainian officials taunted Russia over the explosion without directly acknowledging that Ukraine was responsible for the attack.

“Air defense of the Russian Federation, are you sleeping?” the Navy of the Armed Forces of Ukraine said on Facebook, alongside a video showing a section of the bridge’s road that had been completely destroyed.

“Russian illegal construction is starting to collapse and catch fire. The reason is simple: if you build something explosive, sooner or later, it will explode. And this is just the beginning,” David Arakhamia, the head of Ukrainian president Volodymyr Zelensky’s party in parliament and a member of Kyiv’s negotiating team with Russia, said in a Telegram statement about the incident.

A senior Ukrainian official, Oleksiy Danilov, posted video of the damaged Kerch bridge alongside a clip of Marilyn Monroe singing “Happy Birthday, Mr President,” which Monroe performed for President John F. Kennedy in 1962. Putin turned 70 on Friday.

Not sure if anyone here watches any updates at the University of Tubes. But as of this morning, it appears that every single channel that was covering the war has been demonetized. Seems some odd influence from google to take money from Ukraine like that.

I registered in the time that Reagan called the Soviets illegal as a joke, and almost started war. Sorry that I think life was a lot more dangerous back then, but somehow I managed to not only survive, but not even be called up. Shocking, I know.

I registered when I turned 18 just in case I ever wanted to work for the feds. Also because unlike Ted Nugent, I'm a patriot and I'm not going to sh*t my pants and fake an anxiety disorder to dodge selection in the highly unlikely event we ever need a draft for WW3 (the only scenario in which I could see it happening). Both of my grandfathers actually volunteered for their military service, so there's no way I could live with myself if I ever dodged serving when it was needed.

Wtf year is this? There isn't going to be a draft. It's dumb that we have to register, but go change that law and stop asking neanderthal questions.

Their site doesn't seem to mention of that. I'm guessing some idiots thought that it got them out of registering, the same people who probably think the 16th amendment doesn't exist, and this is just the SSS clarifying.
