Part of me wonders if Putin wants to annex Ukraine because he wants to bolster the soccer team with Ukrainian talent…

LOL!!!!

I know there was a russian team included in the sanctions. Obviously not the big premier league teams, but i can imagine CFC and Bournemouth front offices are watching pretty closely.

Edit: Oh snap, apparently the Brooklyn Nets too.

CUriuos what happens with the NHL.

Zenit Saint Petersburg? They're fully owned by Gazprom and have a Europa League game tomorrow.

Chelsea could be in some serious trouble as Abramovich is quite close with Putin.

UEFA is in a pickle, Saint Petersburg is supposed to host the Champions League Final in May.

F1 as well, Russian Grand Prix is back on the calendar.

Nets are fine. Prokhorov sold his stake in 2019.

This following the areas Russia declared new borders for asked the Kremlin for help in defense

Everything wrong with CNN is on full scale display right now. Wolf Blitzer is yammering about how they're so concerned about monitoring the UN security meeting, and will bring it to the viewers live. They air the UN Secretary General. Then Wolf is interviewing a talking head about hypotheticals and random bullshit while speakers continue to talk to the council. Then cuts to commercial. For fucks sake.

So glad I'm streaming Al Jazeera English. They're at least airing the meeting unmolested by talking heads.

Stand by they’re going to show a clip about crime in NY in a few minutes.

Putin just gave a speech and blamed nato expansion. Looks like he recorded this earlier though

A friend messaged that CSPAN was airing the council live without comment as well, so I flipped the TV to that. Still have AL Jazeera English streaming on my phone.

Putin announced military operation on Russian TV

Seize EVERYTHING. Take the boats. Kick them off SWIFT. Sanction those who trade with them. Do not hold back.
