Grand Unified Election Thread 2: What is the difference between Biden and Dump?

Exactly. Manchin's refusal to support liberal ideas is purely tactical -- he represents hillbillies. Everything he tub thumps against in public he will quietly allow under cover of arcane legalese, exactly as Republicans have been doing for the last half century.

Breaking news: 90% of them on both sides have no values or principles. They are interested in saving their biennially more cushioned hides because it is a good gig for graft and women who look like Jill St. John still sleep with men twice (and thrice) their age for proximity to power.

speaking of Manchin, as much as we complain about him, we better hope he has good genes and doesn't want to retire. When he's gone, that seat is lost forever -- and it won't be replaced by someone with even close to the "concern" over the Trumpification of the party as Susan Collins or Mitt Romney claim to have.

We need to start flipping other states permanently. For every state you think the Dems will lose Senate seats I can name another the GOP should have lost by now sans the voter suppression going on.

I would hope the party listens to Doug Jones. If a guy can win as a Democrat in Alabama (and yeah they ran a pedophile against him, I know) and still openly embraces the genius that is Stacey Abrams then every faction of the Democratic party better hear what he says.

Alaska Division of Elections say they’ll update the vote counts at 5pm.

That’s 9pm ET.

(And it won’t be the full total of votes to count)

Erdogan has done what republicans are too p u s s y to do and congratulates joe.

that should humiliate republicans but they’re beyond saving

Pompeo publicly states they will transition smoothly...to a second Trump admin.

theyrr really taking this seriously

At this point, I'm wondering if Dumpy trots them out there to say this crap in the hope one of them is assassinated, so that he can try to use it as justification for emergency powers and martial law. Everyone is expendable to Dump, even most of his own spawn.

Correct. Better the camel in the tent p-ssing out.

I believe we will eventually lose PA, OH, MI, IA, and WI permanently. Depending on how Chicago goes, we may even lose IL. But I believe we will eventually replace them permanently with NC, GA, AZ, and TX. That's a net win. And all the former states are losing EV while all the latter are gaining.

There may come a moment when it's the GOP who start screaming to eliminate the EC, particularly if we add PR and DC and split CA in half, and Latinos break more and more 50/50.

That time has come and gone frequently, most recently in 2000. Some election watchers thought it was very possible Al Gore could lose the popular vote but come out on top of the EC vote. That idea didn't sit well with some republicans at the time. The republican party hypocrisy on all things big and small has been around for a long, long time.

There is no chance Illinois goes Red. And until such time as WI and MI go Red twice in a row I wont buy they will either. PA I think it will depend who is running but Philly and Pittsburgh dont look to be flipping any time soon and the "Oil Boogeyman" will only work so long.

I mean someday a long, long time from now. Just as Detroit died Chicago could die someday. The future of the United States is the West. The Northeast and the Rust Belt are only going to decline further.

particularly if we add PR

There are more than 50 votes in the Senate for adding PR (Rubio, Scott, and Cruz are on record supporting PR statehood if they voted yes in an up/down vote, which they just did). Mitch would probably let the bill die on his desk though.

Really all it will take is the emergence of a large city in currently rural states to dominate them. Growth --> Diversity --> Prosperity --> Education --> Secularism --> Tolerance --> Liberalism. The virtuous cycle of civilization. So what happens when Boise, Salt Lake City, Sioux Falls, Charleston, Fargo, and Billings have a million people, and half of them are POC? What happens is cultural diffusion and the rise of new ideas challenging the Old Testament angry man in the clouds. Republican parents will have Democratic children. And how you gonna keep them down on the farm after they're read Voltaire?
