Another Mass Shooting: It's Those Darn Video Games!

During my time working with Bass Pro Shop, I got to spend some time assisting with firearm sales at the Hammond, Indiana and Portage, Indiana Cabela's stores... They absolutely required a FOID card to be shown with ALL sales to anyone who had IL residency....

If you have MN or SD (any out of state) ID you ain't buying a handgun in ND.

The idea that straw purchasers aren't involved is pretty silly.

This is EXACTLY a main problem....

Management danced a fine line between ticking off customers with this and actually doing their due diligence. And this straight up ticked me off as someone who is Pro-Gun, but also believes that we need to uphold the rules/laws and accept responsibility with firearms...

Again, Joe Six Pack simply doesn't respect the responsibility that owning a gun requires...

Every Black Friday it would be a huge issue with whatever ammo mega-deal BassPro/Cabela's had as there was a hard limit on whatever (usually 1-2 boxes/person). There would ALWAYS be the pair of people that would come up to the register together and place double the limit down on the counter and would say that one person would cover BOTH purchases... And then the customer(s) would inevitably flip out when asked to produce BOTH of their FOID cards...

Seeing how pervasive the willful ignorance is within the US is infuriating....

Good guy with a gun stopped a mass shooting at a mall in Indiana. I doubt we will hear much about it from the media.

You must love being wrong, since you're wrong an awful lot. The media is playing up the good guy with a gun angle plenty. I'm seeing a 5h!t-ton of tweets being quoted from every statewide elected politicians, all of them being absolutely in love with the "good guy with a gun" angle. I'm seeing it mentioned prominently in both local and national outlets.

What would be better is if all of these media accounts play up all of the things that are true and accurate about what happened. Like why do we even need "good guys with guns" at our shopping malls. Why are we the only nation that goes through this on a weekly (sometimes daily) basis? Well we know the answer to that question, it is because there are idiots who vote for awful senators who don't really care about actually defending people.

Yeah, it's hunky-dory that only three people were needlessly shot down dead before Rambo had luck on his side (and maybe training and courage too) and put an end to the carnage. I'm guessing this Rambo was white too, or we would have heard about the tragic circumstances where police mistook a good guy with a gun for the bad guy with a gun. Hopefully the lib t ards in the media play that angle up sufficiently too, right Drew?

What a piece of 5h!t country to live in where the only way this will ever stop is if one of these days the mass shooter gets into the Senate and guns down about 50 of the right senators. How about the media play up THAT angle, Drew?

It is everywhere. Rarely is a paranoid rightwing talking point so effectively and immediately obliterated.

The Right lies constantly and projects its worst characteristics on the rest of us, like a user in denial or a domestic abuser blaming the victim.

4 people dead during a shooting and the good guy with a gun fellater is in here cheerleading.

It's interesting to defend a right to bear an items whose sole purpose is to kill whatever you are shooting at. We are supposed to be a society of laws, and some even pretend to care about life, but the most important thing in their lives to to keep the ability to kill other people.

Curious, Drew, why you are so interested in keeping the ability to kill another human being. Even though that's clearly a sin. How is the desire to have an affair so bad compared to the desire to want to murder a human being? Society spends so very much time on people having affairs, and even condemns people heavily for looking at porn- yet having guns to kill people is defended as such a massive right. What in the world place do we live in?

He needs his musket for when the red coats come. With their drones and long range artillery

Good on the media for getting this one right.

We are a piece of shit country and it’s only going to get worse. Take away everyone’s guns and see if it fixes anything.

Can't make it any worse.

We've tried it your way for over 200 years. It ain't working.

So, why not try something different?

If we took away everyone's guns, mass shootings would end. The simple fact the guns would be gone would see to that.

And by the way, I don't believe that is ever going to happen, even if this country ever got around to passing some meaningful new gun safety legislation. There's never going to be a slippery slope in that direction. Also, as a law abiding firearm owner and long time holder of concealed pistol permit I would be just fine if we so seriously restricted the ownership of firearms I could not walk out of my house legally carrying mine under any circumstances, concealed or openly. We have abused our "rights" under the second amendment for far too long and that is the price gunowners should pay as a society. The second amendment should have been repealed yesterday and should still be repealed tomorrow.
