Harvard has played some great games in the NCAAs for a long time and has been in a lot of finals.

And if Kelly Stephens doesn't make that play along the boards in 2005 there might be another game on the list of 2 or more OTs.

So this is the longest semifinal in the list (meaning the team has to come back and play the same weekend). To date, Harvard in 2004 looks to be the winner of the longest semifinal to come back and win its next game.

It is a sign of parity and depth in the game that there are more long OT games. 2016 and 2010 now share top spot with 6 games over 70 minutes. 2010 holds the edge over 2016 with all six of those 70+ games in the top 50, including two in the top 5. I remember both of those top 5 games really well. One was the memorable NCAA final of UMD over Cornell.

You missed #43 for this season, but I get the jist of your post.

Two things I remember about that UMD-Cornell game... (1) I watched it from home despite the fact that it was in Minneapolis because I couldn't stand the thought of being present and having a certain head coach win another title in front of me, and (2) it was easier to watch from home because the game was on television.

For many years I've been keeping a list of the longest DI women's games and updating it during the playoffs if needed (thank you CrazyDave for updating it promptly this year). However, looking the men's list USCHO maintains it is lacking a lot of the information they include. Therefore I decided to create a spreadsheet that would look like the men's list and include all the information they include, as well as attendance and links to each game's box score and articles. The articles I linked to were either from USCHO or student newspapers, as I wanted stable, persistent links that don't need user access (such as my access to all Boston Globe articles through my local libraries).

I thought it would be appropriate to unveil my new Women's Division I Longest Hockey Games list today as it the twenty anniversary of the longest women's game played to date. I have been keeping track of all games over 65 minutes in length and have included all of the one's I'm aware of on the list. It is possible that there may be some regular season games longer than 65 minutes as I don't know exactly when women's game went from 18 minute periods to 20 minute periods, but regulation overtime went from 10 minutes to 5 minutes between 1989 and 1991. Please let me know what you think of the new list and if you can provide additional links to articles or missing box scores please post or email me with the information so I can update the spreadsheet.

Tonight's Minnesota-Wisconsin game breaks into the Top 50 at #43. I have updated my Women's Division I Longest Hockey Games list to include it and I will add any articles I find tomorrow. This is the seventh 70+ minute game this season, the most in a single season.

With the playoffs underway there have been 4 overtime games this weekend, three longer than 65 minutes. I have added all three to my Women's Division I Longest Hockey Games list and there are now 87 games on the list. The Northeastern-Connecticut game on Saturday barely made the list at 65:43 as it lands at 84th. The North Dakota-Ohio State game today was 56 seconds shy of 70 minutes and lands at 70th on the list. Friday's Quinnipiac-Princeton game became the 16th to surpass 100 minutes as it went 106:34 and lands at 13th. It is the longest overtime game played by Princeton and their seventh on the list, all losses. It is the sixth overtime on the list for Quinnipiac, but only their third longest.

After updating my Women's Division I Longest Hockey Games list I realized it was missing the two most important players (as is the men's list), the goalies. I have added the goalies for each team and how many saves they made when known. The winning goalie is listed first, the losing goalie is listed second and the rare third goalie is listed last with a note at the bottom of the list noting which team they started for and how many goals they let in.

W/o looking at your list, Cornell and BU in the NCAA quarter five years ago immediately comes to mind.
