Word on the street is that Disney has moved Episode VIII from May 26, 2017 to December 15, 2017. They say it has to do with the monumental success that TFA had this year on that same weekend, but I'm betting that it has to do with the rumored script rewrites that have been surfacing lately.

They moved it for sure, and it is all but a guarantee it had zero to do with how much money it made. That is nice spin from The Mouse though ;)

According to a buddy, in a video game Disney gave away who Rey is...spoilers below:

Rey is Kylo's cousin which basically confirms she is Luke's daughter.

If you listen to the soundtrack, and do some comparisons between movies, it's said that John Williams made the same, unintentional gaffe to those with careful ears and willing to put in the time to listen to each movies' musical score. (The main characters all have a unique theme song written for them.)

Finally saw it. I was worried after the first 30 minutes was virtually all chase scenes and explosions with characters who weren't properly introduced, but they pulled it together for the rest of the film.

Two ways to hook an audience:

1. The slow build
2. ALL THE CHASES for the hook, and then the actual story

Saw TFA for the third time last week. This movie imo rights all of the wrongs/bs of the prequels and it begins with the introduction. The prologue is simple, the opening scene is simple: Kylo Ren bad, Poe Dameron and the village of force worshippers good. There's no need for endless exposition when Abrams SHOWS us through action.

On top of bringing humor back to the series "who talks first?",he gives us characters we can give a **** about and are invested in almost immediately. Rey, Finn and Poe are all immediately likable and believable characters. I'd argue not just canon worthy but they're every bit as good as the originals I feel.

Then there is Kylo Ren who erases/eradicates memories of the terrible Hayden Christiansen as Anakin Skywalker. The petulance, the quick temper, the incredible strength he has with the force (mind reading, freezing people mid-stride) this is exactly how Anakin should have been portrayed but wasn't due to Lucas' ****ty writing and christiansen's pathetic acting. Kylo Ren gives us the glimpse of what it's like for a good person to be seduced by the dark side and it's believable, there's never a moment of "why is he doing that".

The bridge scene will go down as a classic due to Adam Driver's nuance and Harrison Ford's chops. Great great stuff.

With regard to Rey my gut says she's a solo but my head says she's Kenobi's granddaughter. All the sneaking around in star killer base and the moment where she closes her eyes and channels the force prior to defeating Ren tell me she's not a skywalker. We've yet to see a skywalker who isn't impulsive and petulant. Instead she's whip smart, and not inclined to emotional outbursts like Luke and Anakin.

I also love the music in the film.

As for Captain Phasma you can bet her character will evolve almost into a Boba Fett type mythology. My guess is she'll spend the next movie seeking revenge on Finn.

With the Looper director on board for 8 and kasdan and Abrams still around for producing and advising I see a bright future for this trilogy.

...which is exactly my only complaint. It was definitely a much, much better version of the originals, but I would have preferred something entirely new. Yes, the prequels sucked, Jedi had teddy bears, and the effects in ANH are antiquated - but so what? Move on and do something different instead of trying to fix the past.

IMO, I think the next two movies will be off the charts different. They just had to start the transition/set the stage for the changes.
