i thoroughly enjoyed tfa but you can't truly judge it until you know what happens in the next 2. If they just redo empire and Jedi then this movie will fall in my eyes. If it's about showing that this is a new beginning but followed by two showing how much different the ending can be then it will hold up.

Agreed on your points. I think we can ALL agree that the speculation is awesome, tantalizing, and nerve-wracking. We all want it to be good, but...well....Attack Of The Clones.

Judging from Abrams quotes re the script for episode 8, it sounds like there are going to be quite a few surprises.

I wasn't a big fan of looper but we'll see.

I'd take the combination of surprise and JJ Abrams with a grain of salt. His mystery box shtick includes lots of things that aren't actually surprises, as much as he tries to argue otherwise.

It could be way different than empire, but he also tried to play off Into Darkness as being different from Wrath of Khan until its release, too.

I think he's listed as a producer and acting as a consultant, the same way Rian Johnson consulted with TFA when writing the script for Ep. VIII.

We'll see. It makes little sense from the perspective of the story though.

IV - VI: Anakin drawn to Dark Side, redeemed by son.
VII - IX: Ben drawn to Dark Side, redeemed by sister. Cousin just doesn't cut it. Need that intra-family intimacy. Especially as Luke and Leia were siblings and had a special connection of blood + force; so the next generation of force-sensitive siblings does as well.

If Ren is Han and Leia's daughter, you've completely lost me. I'd rather see it be someone completely new (a new Anakin) or Obi Wan's grandchild.

In IV-VI, Anakin Skywalker is no more; he's more machine than man at that point.

Guess I'll be lighting $12 on fire if/when that comes out. If we're lucky, it'll have a couple decent laughs.

Seriously, Spaceballs was his last decently funny movie. Men in Tights had two good scenes, the rest was groan-worthy. Dracula: Dead & Loving It was a complete bomb.

Men In Tights was hilarious...at the time. It aged HORRIBLY.

Well, Sandler sorta tried with his Ridiculous Six, but since Sandler is a no-talent hack....

Best attempt (and success) has been South Park. And if that was live-action, and not animated...it never would have made the air.

The only way that could happen is if they give Al Sharpton a key guest appearance so that he can say its OK to laugh.
