I put zero spoilers in...I wouldnt even joke about ruining this for people.
Is there an NHL version of the Kessel Run?
This. This right here. JJ somehow captured the essence of what Star Wars is that Lucas could never seem to find. I'll repeat, avoid the info, go in blind. How pathetic is your day that you have to come into a thread about something you dont care about and crap on it to people who actually enjoy it? I kind of feel sorry for you...nah I dont sit on it and twirl if you dont like the movies too flipping bad because it aint going nowhere. But hey dont worry old guys you will live on to troll another day
The movie is going to destroy the opening weekend record (it is projected at $250 million) and I would put good money on the idea that it will beat Avatar as well...
BECAUSE IT WAS AWESOME! It was everything that was great about the originals without the bloat and stupidity of Lucas inspired scripts. Lots of laughs, some good twists, lots of great callbacks and the action was superb. I wont even discuss the spoilery stuff yet because trust me, you dont want to know you have to see it all on screen. Oh and practical effects and real/costumes sets FTW! Throw in some real old school lightsaber battles (none of that Prequel dance around CGI crap) and oh man!
It is my second favorite of all the movies, and it could actually end up being my favorite depending how it is followed up. As someone that dislikes JJ quite a bit I will say this was the movie he was born to make and he nailed it. I went with my buddy and our girlfriends (the girls like Star Wars, he and I are uber fans) and all 4 of us gave it between 9 and a 10. He and I flat out said if we didnt have jobs we would hop back in line and see it again we liked it that much.
Avoid as much info as you can, I went in almost blind and it made the experience so much better!
Can't believe they killed off Han.
Can't believe they killed off Han.
PS This development is probably laying the groundwork for a story arc in Episode VIII (or later?). No doubt Han and Leia had children who are Force-sensitive, and so one or both will set out to avenge Han's death, and then they have to confront the Dark Side of hatred inside them toward the person who killed their father.
Rumor is that Lucas wanted to feature the children of Han and Leia in this film and was over-ruled once he sold the rights to Disney.
There's a lot of parallels to the old book series: Han and Leia's son going to the dark side, the Imperial Remnant (or First Order), Luke just kind of going off (I bet there's a bunch more I'm missing). Dollars to donuts Rey is a twin sister to Kylo Ren and kills him.Actually if you listen, he was a pantywaiste the whole time. He has had skills but he was floundering on his resolve almost from the beginning. He has a weak spot (just like his grandfather did) and it was exploited. Considering who Rae most likely is, he is screwed anyways
The death was pretty obvious but still crazy to watch.
Sounds like even more a remake of the original Star Wars from 1977 than the trailers made it appear: they killed off Obi-Wan Kenobi in that movie, and since Han is now playing the role parallel to Obi-Wan in this one, it fits.
I mean, c'mon, a desert nomad with hidden skills finds a droid roaming around in the wilderness and the droid contains a secret message...the more I hear about TFA, the more it sounds just like Star Wars.

The same thoughts hit me, too! If Rey is Ren's sister, Han and Leia both played it really cool with Rey (that's the correct spelling, according to IMDB's listing). It would make sense for Han not to recognize her but Leia would've known her presence in the Force, I would think. They never named her, and for the obvious reason that they're looking to generate speculation amongst the fans, but I expect they'll take her a different direction in the end. There's still time where Luke would've been able to have a kid, too. You never know if her name's not actually Skywalker and not Solo.
Speaking of which, another possible nod to the old books that have since been cast off, I think, is that in those novels, Luke and his wife had a boy named Ben. In this movie, Kylo Ren's given name was Ben, which made me wonder if they did that on purpose to tweak or give a nod to the old book readers. Remember, Leia never actually met Kenobi, and Han only had a brief amount of time with him and Han just thought of Obi-Wan as an old kook.
The one thing I did not like about the movie was Luke's old light saber. Maybe I'm just making too many assumptions here, but when he lost it on Bespin, it fell down to the disposal chute like he did, right? Wasn't Bespin a gas giant planet? How would that thing have been recovered? Even if it is a rocky planet, a fall of that distance would've ruined the saber. It's a small quibble in an otherwise great movie.

I doubt it...otherwise why would Han and Leia not recognize her? Smart money is her being Luke's daughter which explains her being so powerful and her flashbacks when she touches the Lightsaber.
