College hockey fans visiting this thread before the game might be interested in learning a bit more about the Yale program.

Here are some interesting links:

1. The program's recent ascendancy began with the hiring of Coach Keith Allain in 2006. Here's a link to his bio: http://www.yalebulldogs.com/sports/m-hockey/coaches/allain_keith

2. It is not easy for the Yale program to recruit top players and get them through the admissions gauntlet. While Yale, over the long term, has a tremendous athletic legacy, recently there has been increasing pressure on athletic admissions. Keep in mind, as well, that the Ivy League offers no athletic scholarships, although students with "need" do qualify for generous aid. Here's a thread that ran in the school newspaper when the President of the University apparently recently suggested that there were too many athletes at Yale: http://www.yaledailynews.com/news/2011/feb/08/zupsic-athletes-are-yalies-too/.

I'm not sure how Cornell handles the same issues, but I am sure they exist over there, too. Allain and his coaches deserve enormous credit for having assembled this team and taken it to this point - - regardless of what unfolds later today and next week.

The coach deserves tremendous credit-he has helped raise the level of the ECAC hockey in general. Hopefuly this year Yale can get us some more national respect by continuing to win. As an ECAC hockey fan, I usually root for all the teams in the league against the remainder of the country.

Who will be the refs tonight? A mix from last night's games?

Re: Yale vs. Cornell -- ECACH Championship 7:00 3/19/2011 Atlantic City, NJ

Cornell starting keeper Iles in goal over Garman, who pitched last night's shutout against Dartmouth...
Shafer saying that they have rotated all season long...no reason to stop now. He also said "its hot in this building", like Garman might be tired from last night????

One thing I've been wondering is -- if Cornell could only manage about 18 shots against Dartmouth last night the whole game, how many will toughter Yale D give up tonight?

Sounds like the Yale band may have made the trip down to AC. If so, that's great!

As soon as we kill Laganiere's penalty, Brockett is called for tripping.
