Yale Skating Circles around WHCA

Re: Yale Skating Circles around WHCA

Were you in a retarded gym class or something?

Yale is actually like the rich kid whose father buys him a convertible and who gets all the tail and all the loser kids really want to be, but pretend to hate. Guess who you are...

It's yale, so I assume it's all gay tail. and, We are Gopher fans, and we don't care about gay Eastern schools, and never will.

Dear Brent,

You can not post images from Tripod. They won't show up for others.

You're Welcome

Re: Yale Skating Circles around WHCA

I was at the game, no offense taken. CC has talent but it is a year or two away with eight sophomores and eight freshmen. Let the idot (WHCA?) from Yale have his 15 minutes of fame. I would expect a team like Yale who has two 24 year-olds and two 23-year olds and about a dozen and a half 21 year-olds to skate their age. And that is all they are doing, anything less in the result column would be a disapointment for Yale!! Maybe those 24 year-olds will lace them up and play for Yale next season as 25 year-olds too!! What the heck......let um play for Yale when they are 26, 27, 28!! Sure appears they learn slower at Yale.

I've been saying ever since 2002 that the WCHA has been the superior league to Hockey East. Even when BU and BC have won titles with terrific teams, the WCHA was deeper, better and passed the "eye test." Furthermore, I've always rooted for Colorado College, Denver, Duluth because they are small schools playing up a level in hockey.

However, it bugs me every time people bring up the age thing. Scott Swanson, an All-Tournament member on the 1996 CC Frozen Four team was a 21 year old freshman. A 26 point scorer on your last Frozen Four team was a 23 year old junior, meaning he played college hockey at 24, also. There are several players on this year's CC team that will be 21 year old sophomores, meaning they will play college hockey when 23.

The top teams like BC can dominate with a bunch of true college aged players, but a lot of teams have to rely on late bloomers and junior league veterans. It is not against the rules. I don't get why people complain so much about it.

At least college hockey graduates their players for the most part and gives some kids who might not have had such a good education and such good opportunities the chance to go to a college and play a sport.

Ok, here's a better opinion of what I think of this thread:

It was weak, but after losing 5-1 it was the only argument I could think of at the time. Best I call it a night. Cheers!

Re: Yale Skating Circles around WHCA

Unreal and sad (and classless) you crybabies are !!! You got wasted by a better team.....let it go and play u'r next game !!! I'm not a Yale fan either....but don't be moronic...FFS...Try to find some class !!!

Re: Yale Skating Circles around WHCA

I was trying to figure out how yale was ranked 4th in the polls last week after winning all 4 of the games they played while everyone else had played 8 games and some had won 6 or more and were ranked below yale. None the less I'd love to see yale play UMD or UND, I'm sure this thread would quiet down a lot.

You sound just like Dirty prior to last years NCAA (except a little/lot cleaner).
Just so you are aware, Yale pretty much returns every player that beat UND last year in the NCAAs. It's a very senior and junior heavy squad who can skate with any team in the nation. With good goaltending, we have the ability to do more than just skate with any team in the nation.

What is most important about Yale's success this EARLY in the season, it that it solidifies them up as the one of the best schools to attend if you are interested in academics as well as hockey- this helps tremendously as we look to recruit players capable of coming here. However, only further success LATE in the season and beyond will truly prove anything!

So Chowderhead McGee starts a thread about how awesome Yale is for beating Colorado College, everyone points out that that CC isn't that great this year and that's classless? I know ECAC fans get super excited anytime they can win one game against a team from a real league, but we're not going to throw you a parade for beating the Tigers.

Actually, it would create a riot. Yale would win that game!

Re: Yale Skating Circles around WHCA

Yale is like the fat retarded kid that is better than the other fat retarded kids in gym class. I'm sorry I have to put it this way, but tough love and all...

Maybe. But then Minnestoa is like that kid that was always better because he was bigger and more mature than his peers, and suddenly, he gets leap frogged because he let all that "talent" go to his head and sat on his laurels. At least that is how I would characterize Minnesota's program right now. Don't cast stones from glass houses.

This will all get ironed out in March / April. These games are relatively meaningless and come crunch time, we will see which teams can hold serve.

Yale certainly got the better of UND last year, and you could viably argue that Yale was the #2 team in the country last year behind BC (and with any sense of even an average goalie, could very well have been #1)

Re: Yale Skating Circles around WHCA

Congrats to the Eli! But it is just one game in a long season, so don't get puffed up just yet. However a Colorado Springs sweep would be great -- go Yale!

This has nothing to do with Minnesota. Only people who need to face the facts on their own team try to point out the faults on others. Yale is good.....for Yale. They're still a second class team in a second class conference who will go nowhere in the post-season when they play (in Dirty's words) a real team.

I seem to remember the same quote this past April about 24 hours before the North Dakota fans were streaming out of the Worcester Regional site crying like babies. I was happy to witness it in person. As far as this thread goes, we all have a long way to go before our teams shake out to their true potential. A good question to settle it for now would be, if Yale wins tonight, who should be number one?

Brent, have you seen Yale play? If so, please tell me a bit about them.
