Yale@RPI 11/13/15

Things did not go well early in OT. I have always felt the first minute of OT is when most games are decided. We came out a bit slow and Yale had 2 incredible chances. This is one they let get away and I am very happy we were the recipients of their failure to nail it down. And as usual, we got the one extra penalty for the game (that is nothing new). Give our boys credit, we are short handed, we have several of our first line stars out and we still win. Love the chances created by the MNM line even though they only got on the scoresheet once, they kept Yale having to think quickly about going backward.
. Doc- you can't discuss this game or the OT without tipping the cap to Hackett. The kid flat out stood on his head (again) and deserves the game puck. This team won tonite thru effort and determination against a more skilled opponent. The DNA of this team is different than years past ...getting key plays and points up and down the lineup...many efforts --both on and off the score sheet.

PS: Parker Reno had the best game of his RPI career --kudos to him.

Just got back from the game. Got to say hello to Turk and Aspy and had a conversation with Ralph.
Ralph, you picked a good game to go to. I hope Brown is a little easier tomorrow.
As for the game, Hackett was brilliant, his rebound control wasn't awful, he steered almost everything to the corners when he could. I would like to see him stop play a little more often.
The offense missed a couple of easy chances, and they have a propensity for trying to make pretty/impossible passes. I was really happy that Liljegren took the shot in overtime, he could have tried one of those crazy passes and we would still be playing.
The only thing I didn't like about the team play was the way they sat back in the third period. I don't think that we had a shot until late in the third. Meanwhile Yale had a bushel full.
All in all it was great to walk away with a win over another ranked team.
I only hope that we don't fall into a trap tomorrow night thinking that we can just show up to beat Brown. We need to play our best for sixty minutes or more to come away with at win.

Lets go red!!!!!!!!

Looking forward to seeing tonight's game. I agree w EHF. We haven't had much success w Brown in recent years. Let's play our game and take 'em.

Absolutely. i counted at least 3 that he should never have been able to make the save and were sure goals. I also think I saw about 5 others that could have been goals that Yale just misplayed at the last second to miss a fairly open net. But, and this is the difference so far between him and Kasdorf, he has got to learn to steer rebounds to the corners and not allow them to simply deflect off in front and he must gain a sense of how to control the momentum of the game in his own end by grabbing the puck and stopping play when the other team is just in total control and his defense is just totally unable to clear the puck. We are just not yet a power team that can just run over the opposition and since every game is tight, in addition to making those spectacular saves, he has to help control the flow or he will be facing 40+ shots every time.
