Re: Yale Off Season 2013-2014 "That was fun... May we have another?"
Nice article. Thanks for the link.
Nice article. Thanks for the link.
30 goals and 30 assists in 64 games, not bad. it figures that QU recruit Quenneville is seven points ahead of him on the same squad. Quenneville scored his points on twice as many shots. Dichiara had 30 goals on 127 shots, quite a percentage.
Actually, right now, we are your DaddySeriously, great sentiment, and a great season by QU. I find the best thing about it as a hockey fan is if one team is out of town, you can go and watch the other. The QU Cornell playoff game 3 as a case in point.
If anybody from Yale Athletics is reading, would be nice to have a printed Yale Hockey Media Guide for 2013-2014.
Nothing fancy, 8"x5", 200 pages or so... History of Yale Hockey, year-by-year results, coach and player profiles, and of course, a recap of the 2012-2013 Championship Season. Just a thought...
Yale has gone with the Media Guide info online since 2009-2010 Season. Last printed Media Guide had Matt Nelson Captain on the cover for 2008-2009 Season.

It's nice to have the two games at Pru and the rivalry game at MSG, but still... that's an awful schedule. No games against any Western teams, and the only Hockey East teams are Vermont and Merrimack? With a schedule like that, they may need to win the league just to make it back to the tournament.
I understand the Western trips are every other year, but... what would it take either to get a Western team to come east? Is it really THAT hard?
Yes. Of course, it also depends on who you want to play. I wouldn't be shocked if Yale sees high caliber teams the year after, since schedules are usually in place by the time of the tournament, and they didn't know at the time that Yale would be leaving with some hardware.
Having effectively five NC games (Ivy shootout taking up two), as well as not being able to play in October, is also a shot in the foot.

What is the deal with the Ivy's not starting play in October? Stupid; just like the Ivy football Bowl prohibition. Easing the restriction to, say starting play on or about October 20th, would add at least one weekend and a couple of games.
The Ivy Shootout is history, at least.
The Liberty Invitational replaces it, and is in October, but it doesn't increase the total number of games. After the first year the Liberty will mean at least one Hockey East opponent on neutral ice (appears to be a rotation among Mass, Vermont, Merrimack, Lowell, and Maine?). As far as I'm concerned, Yale should never play OOC games against other ECAC, except in championship or consolation games of tournaments. With only 7 total OOC games, loading up on "more of the same" is a major problem. In terms of things like pairwise, it essentially means the entire season could come down to whether they win at Vermont, or whether Merrimack is a TUC... never mind that they won't have seen any teams from 3 of the major conferences.
Agreed it is an embarrassment of a schedule for defending NCAA champ.
A couple things:
1. I don't mind Ivy shootout given Ivy starts season later
2. Absolutely no reason to play other Ivy teams out of league besides shootout. The Harvard game at MSG should have been arranged as part of ECAC regular season- just have to do it 2 years in a row and have Yale be home team this year and then visiting team next year.
3. Holy Cross and Sacred Heart need to be dumped entirely. To play one of them is a shame, to play both is a complete joke.
4. Coming off such a great run for both Yale and Quinn we should look to schedule with them to get Western Teams out here for a weekend one year and go out West the following. I'm sure North Dakota would love some revenge for the last couple times we have met in NCAAs.
In the end, schedule is pathetic and I fully support all the bashing Yale will take for it.
