Yale Hockey 2014-2015. 138 miles to the ultimate goal.

Re: Yale Hockey 2014-2015. 138 miles to the ultimate goal.

20 wins gets them where they want to go. 6-6 gets them to 17. Then 2 rounds in ECAC. Still you'd like them to go 8-4, first round bye, trip to Albany. 9-3 as you suggest probably means a shot at Cleary. Win the tourney, they're a 1 seed. It's all in front of them. Still, whatever the outcome I like this team - the effort, the discipline, etc. Go Blue!

They will not get very far going to Albany ;) Lake placid is much nicer. I would suggest at this point that Yale, Colgate, Harvard and QU have a decent shot at the dance, SLU and Union are on the outside looking in. Attrition among the league will hurt the 5th and 6th place teams the most. RPI could possibly win the regular season ECAC championship and still be out of the tourney.

All right smart guy - showing off that Yale education. Sheesh, I thought we were still in AC for goodness sakes :-). Anyway, agree with your assessment. ECAC looks to be a 4 bid league - so far. Don't think it will go beyond that. Again, encouraged by what I see. No guarantees. But based on where we are now, we can make it. And if Lyon doesn't wear down, gets really hot, and we get scoring from top 2 lines, I see no reason why we can't make another run this year - who knows. Of course I'm also holding out hope for the basketball team...

My only post High School diploma is from the New Haven Fire Academy! Big weekend up north which Yale needs to come out of with some points. I think Clarkson and SLU will see a much different team than they saw in November.

You're a smarter man than I am...I mean, you know your way around upstate NY - and burning buildings. I get lost on my way to the kitchen. And I'm not allowed to play with matches either. :-)

Bad loss, IMO. Anytime you give up the tying goal in the last couple of minutes and then lose in OT it's like a kick in the stomach. Tomorrow is now a must win.

Totally agree Bulldog10.... Very frustrating to see the momentum shift like that toward the final seconds of regulation... Especially after YALE had multiple opportunities to seal the game while man down! Ugh. Keith will have them ready for another road challenge tomorrow evening. Meat of bulldogs schedule is really looming as the season continues.

Yes - the dominated the game right up until the last minute. Weird goal - backhand from below left circle that ended up top shelf opposite side. OT you could see it coming. Shot clanged off the post & a bit later right through the pads. That said, tonight was the first time where their lack of a true finisher cost them. You guys mentioned the 2 shorties right before the tying goal. If Miller or someone there, pucks in the net. And StL had a bad giveaway in their zone with seconds remaining in 2nd. All alone on goalie in the slot and nothing. Still, two things to keep in mind here. Yale forechecking is ferocious - saw it 3x with my own eyes now - MSG, Brown and 2nite. And, no matter what the records, trip to StL, Clarkson is tough. A split works for me. Not the end of the world if not. Gotta find somebody who can put it in the net. If so, this team can go places. Keep the faith. Yale86

Dominated the game right up until the last minute? Huh? You were better in the third, but not in the first and not enough in the pretty even second or third where Yale played better to pull away. OT was all SLU. I love getting no respect from a team we beat twice.

Re: Yale Hockey 2014-2015. 138 miles to the ultimate goal.

He hates Yale , move on. Although I agree that Yale was flat in the first.

What a disaster of a weekend. This team better find someone to score goals.

Be calm. As for STL guy, LTsatch is right. A hater. Actually Yale didn't play great in the 1st - not flat - but StL did not get quality chances the whole game and Yale's forecheck was better, much better. StL power play was laughable really. Yale lost a game they definitely should / looked like they had won. The last minute goal by StL was the flukiest goal you'll ever see. A prayer. And so the inevitable happened and they lost on the road. Oh well.

Game tonight a different story. Just like OT the night before, they had their heads down a bit. Hey, they're kids. Upstate NY trip has always been tough. Just like trips to Lynah. I never expect a lot. It's not a disaster. Even the very best Yale teams had tough time upstate.

Hard to know where this team will go. Games / season will be nip & tuck unless they get some goals. It's that simple. With some luck they can go really far. Or not - and have a pretty decent season. I'm still betting on NCAA's - then we'll see.

Calm down. Even your own announcers said you got dominated, no quality chances and the last goal was just weird. As for dominating OT - uh no. An unscreened shot from the point hit the post. Everyone knew at that point Lyon was a bit hungover from the prayer he let in. An unscreened shot from high slot went through the wickets for the gamer.

Hey, you're what 12-10? With zero offense? Way for those kids to not give up, play the full 60. We beat Harvard 2x too. At this point they're better than Yale. And Yale is better than StL. Despite a gutsy, gift win.

That's about the size of it.

Keith? Is that you Keith? Possibly the most ridiculous post of the season. Just take OT. Shots were 3-0 with solid, sustained zone pressure. 3 shots in 2.5 minutes of 5-5 hockey is good clip. Shots were even for the game. That's not domination. Take a look up in the standings. Yeah, that's us. Hope you enjoyed your trip to the North Country *******.

So I think Got6 might have overreacted just a fuzz with his original reaction to your original comment, but your completely ridiculous response just made yourself look dumb honestly. Anyone who can actually watch that game and come away with the opinion that you have either has the name homer or is still wearing his/her rose colored glasses. Try not to chest thump so much, it's not very becoming of a good fan. Always try and remember ... Keep it classy!

I don't actually, but sometimes the arrogance is a bit much. I also enjoyed listening to the Harvard fans saying last week they should rest their injured players for February and March. Maybe that's what Allain did since you can just win at will against anyone in the league?

Also love the zero offense comment. SLU has 40 goals in 13 league games, Yale has 27. In 25 games, SLU has 74 goals for 2.96 per game. In 19 games Yale has 45 for 2.36 per game. Fluky goals count too, but if you watched Horn over his career he can thread the needle with his shots which is what he did last night. Your post doesn't speak well for the Yale statistics department. But anyway, thanks for the "gift".

Re: Yale Hockey 2014-2015. 138 miles to the ultimate goal.

Just received word that a few tickets have become available at the Yale Athletics website for the Saturday night Quinnipiac game.

Nice to see Yale rebound with an expected win. Still no killer instinct. Saw the hit on Hayden and he was on his knees when hit from behind. Refs made Brockett and Princeton pay. Frankie DiChiara Star #1!
