Yale Hockey 2011 the Post-Season thread: AC, Harbor Yard, and ....

Re: Yale Hockey 2011 the Post-Season thread: AC, Harbor Yard, and ....

As for the major on ONeil, it seems relevant that he got the elbow call just before - perhaps he needed to cool down. Very few saw the hit and at the point in the second they stopped showing arena replays of all the atrocious calls. The place was livid, but a more aggressive crowd would have littered the ice.

At least someone acknowledges this. That elbow was bad, really bad. It was from behind and to the head, and it shook Faulk up pretty good. O'Neill could have easily been tossed for that hit. Then he takes 5 strides to hit a guy, and its the second player he's put down that period with a dirty hit. Was it head contact? Maybe, he did go helmet to helmet with Hendrickson, but it was with out a doubt charge. Watch the replays and count how many strides he takes before the hit. At that point in the game the officials are thinking of player's safety. You can't have two hits like that and expect to be playing much.

Re: Yale Hockey 2011 the Post-Season thread: AC, Harbor Yard, and ....

Refs do blow games and those four lost control completely. After the the 5th goal, the 2nd of the 5 minute penalty, one of the refs decided to review whether it was a legal goal by reviewing it in the scorers box. Why, I don't know; when I got home and looked at the tape, it was a clean no brainer - nobody in the crease and the net was on the pegs. The other ref decides to drop the puck while his partner is in the box reviewing the call. And he's facing the benches rather the scoring box. Do you think they may have thought they were in the wrong and were making mistakes? The Yale students erupted in a cheer I have never heard in 40 years of college hockey, blunt & to the point. End of the 2nd period and UMD & Yale have left the ice. The 4 gentlemen are standing on the ice alone. It was hostile. I hope they never ref anything greater than peewee hockey, at least not NCAA playoffs. While I don't think UMD would have won that game had it been called right, they were good enough to win it on level playing filed. I wish them and their bleached blond hairs the best in the frozen 4.

Thank God most Yale fans are not like you. That's all I'm saying.

Despite the fact that Yale was most likely the equal of UMD from a skill perspective....
imho, All weekend they did not take good advantage of their opportunities. Second they were undisciplined in game two which hurt. Things go against everyone, you have to overcome it even if it is unfair.

I think the ECAC acquitted itself well all year and I don't see this as their best chance, they have been in before and they will again. Congrats to Yale on a fine year.

Congratulations to Yale on a great season. All of the Yale fans I had the pleasure of meeting in Bridgeport were great, and I share in your disappointment.

I am fairly certain that every single goal in every game was quickly reviewed. Perhaps what happened was just a glitch in technology which took the review a little longer.

In regard to the rest of your comments, well, I'll just chuckle to myself and pat you on the head.

Following their careers as one of the best classes in Yale hockey history, this year's seniors have begun their professional careers. Cahill signed an ATO with the Milwaukee Admirals and Kearney signed an ATO with Springfield, and Martin signed an ATO with the Reading Royals...actually, does that mean they're still amateurs?
