I am a Harvard fan as you might guess as there is no "Lux" in the user name. You can still buy online at the Harvard Hockey web page. Probably would be able to buy at the door also but I think sales at Bright are $5 more than online. Parking should be about the same as last night as there is no other major event as far as I know. Saturday games usually get a slightly larger crowd than Fridays but tonight no expectation of all the extra police, Secret Service and RCMP that were there last night.

Do not count on the BBQ caterer showing up at Dillon Field House tonight, they were a no show last night for some reason.

Note: being a Harvard fan I hope that we will be back there Sunday night too.

Who was the celeb, we saw them motorcade him in on the walk back from Harvard Square, I figured it was Kerry as i have seen him at Yale games in New Haven with Blumenthal in the past.

I heard on the Harvard internet broadcast that I was indeed John Kerry and (I should have taken notes on the name) a vice prime minister of Canada who is a former Harvard hockey player and rumored to be the real life inspiration for the Oliver character in Love Story

on to the game. 0-11. That is the stark PP stat of the night. And a pretty lifeless 0-11 I might add. Yale has to get that fixed or they will find themselves on the short end again tomorrow night. And it's a shame too, because Maricic played great again.

The second man's name is David Johnston - he's the Governor General of Canada. (And we really need to finish off Harvard tomorrow).

That was not Kerry Friday night, it was H.E. the Rt. Hon David Johnston (lots of post nominal letters) who is the Governor General of Canada. He is appointed by the Queen in Right of Canada as her viceroy in Canada. He is in effect the head of state unless the Queen is in Canada. He signs bills into law, is commander in chief of the Canadian miltary, etc. He was in town and attended the game with his wife and a daughter who lives in the area. He is H'63 and was an All American in '62 and '63. By the way, he still skates like the wind, skated with the Harvard boys at practice Friday.

Kerry attended Saturday, sat on the Yale side.

Could neither attend nor watch tonight. I read something in the game recap about an icing call that wasn't that led to the 3rd goal. What's that about?

With linesman still signaling an icing call the Yale d relaxed a bit upon touch up. No whistle. No washout signal. Harvard goal. Allain explodes on the bench. It wasn't our night. I was more frustrated last night watching senseless, selfish penalties put the nation's top ranked power play on the ice. The difference for Harvard was their top performers (Killorn, Everson) came to play while the Bulldogs looked sluggish. One senior D a minus 5.

An icing was waved off that shouldn't have been. Yale appeared to stop playing anticipating the icing and the Harvard player made a good pass squarely planted in the goal to give Harvard a 3-1 lead. The Harvard announcers (I was watching on the internet) were quite sure the call was wrong. But I'm not a big believer in the "that completely switched the momentum theory." Yale was thoroughly outplayed... thoroughly. IMO, Yale's problem in this series were a failure to stop Killorn and excellent goaltending from Girard. That, and too many penalties Saturday night. Without those, today's game wouldn't have happened.
 
Killorn had one point combined Friday and Saturday and it was a second assist on a PP goal. Granted, tonight that was not the case but he didn't do much first two games. The first harvard goal was a terrible non call as the Yale d-men was blantanly tripped leading to goal. The waved off icing was pathetic as a fellow ECAC linesman standing next to me even stated it was "absolutely the wrong call". The 4th goal was alsp a 2 on 1 that was a result of the ref grabbing onto a Yale d-man to prevent him from getting back. (looked like ref was going to fall and grabbed onto defenseman in order to stay up, giving harvard a 2 on 1. Tonight just wasn't the night and once Yale got down, they couldn't do much and then just imploded. Sad to end that way. Thanks class of 2012! You guys were amazing and I honestly believe the future is bright.

Although this is not the finish we wanted to see , there were flashes in the past two months of the Yale teams we come to expect. As young as Yale is, every team in the ECAC still fears them. Langaniere had a breakout year and should lead the team next year along with Agostino and Miller.

No question Girard was great, but that's something Yale can't control so you live with it. What Yale can control and failed to control most of the year is their impulse to take a mindless and selfish penalty at key moments. Yale was in great shape (ahead 2-0) and Harvard was not looking like a team that had the goods to come back early in the second when a Yale player contacted Girard as the play was ending and the puck was behind the net. Result was a power play and Harvard's first goal and the momentum shifted right there. The aggressive style that Yale plays is going to lead to more penalties called on them than the average team, which is exactly why the mindless penalties can't happen.

Congratulations to the class of 2012-O'Neill, Peel, Jasko, Ziegler, Limbert, Brockett, and Otto. They accomplished amazing things and will be remembered for their indomitable will as much for their outstanding achievements.

A player like Brian O'Neill only comes along once in a while. You move on without him because you have to, but he is not replaceable, at least in the short term.

Re, the remainder of the ECAC tournament and the NCAAs, root for Cornell (which I will obviously be doing anyway) if you want two ECAC representatives in the NCAAs. I looked at the pairwise, and Cornell may be in already, but a win over Harvard would certainly assure it. Union has a PWR of 6t, so they are clearly in. It wouldn't surprise me if the Bridgeport Regional has one of those two teams in the field, and if they want to goose the attendance they would be wise to put Cornell there with their large base of NYC area alumni.

If your main interest is getting the most ECAC teams in, you should root for Colgate to beat Cornell in the final or Harvard over Union, with Union or Cornell winning the consolation (respectively). One more win would make Cornell a virtual (if not mathematical) lock, Union would be in, and Gate or Harvard would have the autobid.

Harvard has that one pro type line with Killean and Biega, they have a chance against anyone in a one and done. Girrard is on fire as well. Haven't seen Colgate enough to comment, I hope we see three.
