Yale Bulldogs Hockey 2011 -2012

Re: Yale Bulldogs Hockey 2011 -2012

If I remember at this years game at Bright most of the Yale faithful ended up in sections 18-19 on the Yale attacking end near the blue line. I purchased my tickets online and ended up in section 14 which I did not like as i like to see Yale attack twice. but for half price tix I will watch a game from anywhere. For those who are attending Friday, lets plan to meet up an hour before the game and go to the Dillon fieldhouse Lounge wherer at the last game they had beer and barbeque for a reasonable price. I plan to head up earlier with my wife and take in some local sights in Cambridge. Yale also did a Schley room on the road at the last game. Not sure if I would go to that expense again.

Re: Yale Bulldogs Hockey 2011 -2012

I hope the YPHB is coming this weekend - even with numbers way down due to the spring break, they are a big part of the energy at Ingalls.

The YPMB will not be at Harvard this weekend. Spring Break is the cause.

Yale's Alumni office is running daily bus trips for each game, $25 round-trip. It leaves RTH at 3pm each afternoon.

They are also doing the "Schley Room on the Road" for $20 ON SATURDAY ONLY. If you do both, bus and Schley, it's $40 on Sat. night.

For more information, call the Alumni Office at 203 432-1434 or email at support.athletics@yale.edu.

The deadline is noon tomorrow, Wednesday, March 7th to book.

That Saturday night deal is a killer one, you can't even drive to boston for $40 these days. I may take advantage of the Friday bus unless my wife wants to head up earlier.

Re: Yale Bulldogs Hockey 2011 -2012

My daughter decided that she would rather sit among the Yale faithful than save $15 so we will be at the end where Yale attacks the goal on Friday. Bought the tickets from the Yale Ticket office this afternoon. Not sure where we are exactly until I pick them up tomorrow. Driving up but probably won't get there until a half hour or so before game time. I will look for some familiar faces. Lets make the Bright Hockey Center worthy of the name!

Driving it is, if you get there early enough you can park by the rink before the payment people are there and walk into town, supposed to be decent weather. the Crimson Pub at the Dillon Field House opens at 5:30 I believe.

INCH NATIONAL PLAYER OF THE WEEK

ANTOINE LAGANIERE
Yale
Jr. | F | Ile Cadieux, Quebec

Antoine LaganiereHis Statistics: 5-0–5, +2 rating, 2 PPG, SHG, GWG, ENG, Hat Trick

His Impact: Last week’s First Shift included lots of chatter about teams who came through in big situations, and this week’s edition starts off by honoring a player who did the same in a first-round playoff series. Laganiere, a hulking junior forward for the Yale Bulldogs, scored in each game of the Bulldogs’ series win over Princeton.

He saved his best for the decisive third game, with a hat trick in Yale’s 7-3 win on Sunday that sent the Bulldogs to a quarterfinal matchup at Harvard. Laganiere ranks second on the team with 17 goals, and has totaled 30 points this season. He had just 23 points combined over his freshman and sophomore seasons.

His Runners-Up: Adam Berkle, Bowling Green; Trevor Lewis, Robert Morris; Joseph Pendenza, UMass Lowell; Jaden Schwartz, Colorado College

My recollection from last year's game at Bright is that you end up parking in a lot that is south of the hockey arena. What time do you need to arrive so that you don't have to pay for parking?

If you will permit a Harvard fan to jump into your thread, the parking people usually get there at around 5:00 or 5:15 for a 7:00PM game. Parking is $10. If you don't mind a walk the lot on the other side of Harvard St, next to the business school charges $5 However-WARNING, Before the sports parking people arrive Harvard parking enforces a metered rate. You par, put coins in a machine and put the receipt on your dashboard. If you do arrive early, bring a few quarters.

A word about seats. Bright is fairly small and all sections have decent sight lines. As to cheering, I have never known of problems at a Yale game. Personally I never am bothered by opposing fans cheering, that is what fans are supposed to do. Only thing that bothers me is Cornell fans screeching "Red" during the National Anthem and making a fascist salute as they do so.

As to food: If early you can walk to Harvard Square or alternatively go out the gate and right on Harvard Street where Stone Hearth Pizza is at the next traffic light. "Redbones BBQ" serves at Dillon Fieldhouse and the ribs and pulled pork are good. The macaroni and cheese side is too pricy in my opinion. Inside Bright the concession stand has hotdogs, hamburgers etc.

As to the game, I expect to see Girard in the goal. He has had about a third of the ice time this year and has better stats than Michalek. Harvard's power play is doing well so Yale has to watch for penalties.

Thanks alot for the info, as noted earlier, I don't expect to see Michalek either, especially after the game at Ingalls. I have been to both Yale/Harvard games this year and the first was a tight well played hard checking game, the second, I am not quite sure what happened to Harvard, mostly just the defense breaking down. Yale has become much quicker late in the season and some of the rookies have really matured. It should be a great series between two old rivals.

Re: Yale Bulldogs Hockey 2011 -2012

From the Harvard thread: "As for the fans, well, the program has suffered from losing seasons ... since back in the early nineties."
Really? I guess those 3 ECAC titles and 5 straight NCAA appearances in the early '00s never happened. Harvard fan support is pathetic, *especially* considering that they've had the 2nd most success of any ECAC team since 2000. Yale is a close 3rd, but doesn't look on a trajectory to overtake at this point.

Roll call, who will be in Cambridge on Friday night? I can only make Friday and Sunday if neccessary

Re: Yale Bulldogs Hockey 2011 -2012

We're rolling in for the weekend. Probably just get there in time for tonight's puck drop.

Re: Yale Bulldogs Hockey 2011 -2012

Just made it home from Boston to New Haven in 1:45, best ride ever. Great game by Yale tonight, they carried the play most of the game except for a few minute long period in the third. They kept Harvard chances wide most of the night and the only goal they did give up was an uncharacteristic bad zone clear by Langaniere which Harvard pounced on for their lone goal. Yale also hit two pipes tonight. The winning goal did not look like much as it developed, but fed by Langaniere, Agostino was left wide open and alone in front and took his time and beat Girard easily. Maricic was solid in net for Yale, if not for Harvards goalie Girard the score would have been much worse. Very clean game , and I must say that the refs let them play and only made a couple bad calls of no consequence, a rare event in ECAC hockey. Nice to see Ruffalo get an important goal as well. Wish I could be there Saturday.

What Harvard, and maybe Yale -- these days anyway, really need are Nelly's relatively low admissions standards and attendant AI ....and, hey, throw in a Hotel school as well

Fat Mike is an excellent coach though.

Re: Yale Bulldogs Hockey 2011 -2012

Anybody have extra tickets in the Visitors' section for tonight's game? Ticket offices aren't open today and I'm thinking I may need to drive up again...

Re: Yale Bulldogs Hockey 2011 -2012

Last night was the best commitment to play defense that I have seen from Yale this year. The forecheck was relentless as usual, but the defensemen took less chances slashing to the net and it showed in the lack of quality scoring chances for Harvard. It was astounding to see Agostino as wide open as he was he was on the final sequence (Credit to the indomitable Jesse Root for drawing 3 Harvard defenders toward him) . Like the true goal scorer he is, he buried the puck and sent us all home happy. I hope that Yale is able to maintain the same style of play tonight and end this in 2. With Raphael Girard between the pipes, the Blue is not going to score many, so a commitment to defense tonight will be essential. Nick Maricic was just as good in net. He didn't have as many shots to stop, but handled the Grade A chances with aplomb.
