Worst Post Ever???

Re: Worst Post Ever???

So there is this thing called a report button if you think a post is offensive.
This thread as "retaliation" is just petty and childish.
DU fans must follow their coach in thinking trying to embarrass others is the way to get things done.

Re: Worst Post Ever???

In response to the "neg rep": of course it was a stupid thing to say. We all know that. I was just pointing out that starting this thread to talk about it some more makes it worse, not better.

I've never agreed with you more.

Re: Worst Post Ever???

Very hot. I give it a "Ten".

What? Are you forgetting some of your posts from five years ago?

Tech fans 1

DU (or is it Denver State?) fans 0

For Tig and everyone else...

I have known co14ers a long time...I've posted dumb things and seen him post some bad things too. But, shirtless really crossed the line.

Would I have started another thread??? Possibly...

I think co14ers brings up a great point....

Why in the f--- would someone wish death on 20 kids, coaches, school employees and staff??? Drunk or not there is no excuse for it. I have seen co14ers called out before in individual threads too....so don't play that card on him.

We've all posted while drinking...but what shirtless did was GUTLESS and classless.

Will he apologize? No...his ingorance and arrogance would never allow it.

Im with CO14ers on this one.

Re: Worst Post Ever???

What? No pole? This thread is a complete FAIL. Much like everything else associated with DU hockey this weekend.

Re: Worst Post Ever???

Brent, please don't add facts into this mess, it just complicates.

Don't you roll your eyes at me. That's rude, and it hurts my feelings. You are a cold-hearted hag for doing that. I will now point out that fact to everyone by starting a new thread, highlighting your rolling of the eyes at me.

Re: Worst Post Ever???

Do any of you realize bbdl was the one who actually said it?

Shirtless is a moron for quoting it. BBDL is moron for saying it in the first place.

Seriously??? The anger that Tech fans would have spewed out if Denver fans had said that about their team would have been just as bad.

I vote this for worst post ever.
Agree with you Flashy. It's not even a draw losing UAH and gaining a PSU. PSU just has a lot of money being thrown at them right now. UAH has 30 plus years of tradition backing them and that's just not good for the whole sport.

Re: Worst Post Ever???

DIng ding. Bunt_q is a moron.

How on earth did *I* get dragged into this?

I'm a moron for thinking Penn State is of more long-term importance to the sport than Alabama-Huntsville? Seriously? I mean, you can disagree, fine. But "worst post ever" or "moron" is a bit excessive. Unless, of course, any dissenting opinion on here is (a) unwelcome and (b) grounds for personal attacks. Which, I suppose judging from the last couple days or so, would be a reasonable conclusion to draw.

Back to Penn State vs. Alabama-Huntsville... long tradition, sure. But at the end of the day, we're talking about a satellite campus that got shut down the minute it hit a speed bump and the man with the power from the main campus decided they weren't worth the trouble anymore. That will never happen at Penn State. We're talking the flagship school. In what will (unfortunately) probably quickly become the sport's flagship conference. In a big state. And a hockey state. PA may not be Minnesota or Michigan or Massachusetts, but it's a hell of a lot more hockey-friendly than Alabama. I respect what Alabama did with their program and it's a shame it failed. But comparing UAH's potential to Penn State's is asinine. Penn State will only be good for college hockey in the long term (once the conference hiccups play themselves out, at least). UAH will be forgotten within a year.

So yeah, disagree, fine. But there's nothing moronic about my thinking. Except that it isn't the same as yours (which I would personally characterize as backward-looking, provincial, and deathly afraid of any change, whatever form it takes).

Atlanta-to-Winnipeg? I suppose that move makes Gary Bettman a moron? Or does Winnipeg win that one because of "superior tradition"? Penn State isn't exactly without tradition...they're the best team in club right now, and they're in a state with two NHL franchises with long traditions. I mean, what would you prefer? I get it, we're all staying up late nights praying for Moorhead to finally make the jump to D-1...that's the gold standard for college hockey, right? More Bemidjis. But in the meantime, is Penn State so bad? I know, it's just some crappy B10 school in farm country PA, not hockey central... but really. You guys have seriously got to loosen up with this tradition nonsense if you want to grow anything. You can't live in the past and move toward the future at the same time.

The moronic part of your post is implying the death of the UAH program is a good thing.

There was no such implication. But if we're declaring the end of the hockey world (which is what folks were doing when I posted that), I think it's only fair to make a full appraisal of what's happened already. Maybe the end of the college hockey world is coming... but it hasn't come yet. Not in the last year, at least. That's all I was saying. The deaths of any programs in the future is, at this point, pure speculation. What's happened so far is neutral, or slightly better than neutral. Of course I'd prefer both UAH and Penn State. But if I had to choose between the two, with all due respect to UAH and its fans, I'd take Penn State.

Ironically (story time) the only person I had to talk college hockey with when I was in Iraq was a chemical guy from Alabama. Not another fan to be found anyplace. Guess he won't be following hockey for much longer, unfortunately... I never really expected it to last, though, any more than I expect hockey to survive anywhere else in the south (except with snowbirds - Florida and Arizona - and maybe Texas).

Which is why it's so much better/more important for college hockey as a whole to have a foothold in Alabama. Not saying Penn State shouldn't join too, but hockey in PA is doing just fine.

I suppose. Hockey's been having that debate for ages, though. If the NHL can't survive in a huge city like Atlanta, I'm not sure we're there yet. It would've been nice...and college might be the right place to start, but it was always an uphill battle. Businesses have those same debates... expand, and try new areas, maybe a tad outside your core expertise. Or do one thing really really well. I tend to think the second camp have the right strategy, which is why I think hockey needs to first solidify its core areas. Especially the college game, which is so small to begin with.

I'm not the born optimist, I guess, that some of you guys are. Once the CCHA rejected them, I figured it was inevitable. There are those moments when you know you're on the precipice. CC had one back in the day, I remember it, when the Broadmoor announced its demo plans, and we knew we were on a short clock to get a new arena funded or watch the program fold. CCHA-day was UAH's moment. Everything that happened after that was just salt on the wound.
