Talking heads are funny. Of course when a team (Miami) brings in 3 players it can't actually afford who are international stars, the team is going to get better!

Put them on any MLS/MX team and they'd be significantly improved.

There was an article in The Athletic that detailed how Inter Miami were able to bring in everyone. Basically, one DP had their contract mutually terminated, another was bought down with allocation money after another player was traded, and I think Alba is on friendly deal.

Honestly, even Messi alone would be a huge improvement. But add in Busquets and Alba plus Tata Martino as manager and it’s no wonder Miami has suddenly improved.

Vlatko resigns from USWNT. Contract was up in December so this at least gives them a bit of a head start for Olympics prep.
We all knew this was coming. The real question is whether USWNT GM Kate Markgraf stays on or not. It’ll be interesting to see what the call on that is from Crocker.

US Referee Tori Penso will be the Referee for Australia v England. It’s the first time an American referee will be on a semifinal at the Women’s World Cup (mostly because this is the first time the USWNT is not playing in the semifinals).

The other American referee Katja Koroleva probably still has an outside chance at the final.
Well how’s this for shocking:

Tori Penso will be the referee for the World Cup Final. ARs will also be American with Brooke Mayo and Kathryn Nesbitt.

Absolutely shocking that a referee would be on a semifinal and then the final. First time at a FIFA event since 2005 at the U17 World Cup, first time since 1934 for the World Cup.

I want to note: Kari Seitz is FIFA’s Head of Refereeing for Women and is an American. I have zero doubt she flex some political muscle.

It’s not a terrible appointment either. Tori is an NWSL (arguably the best Women’s league in the world) and MLS referee, plenty of international experience, and well versed with VAR too.

Stop me if you’ve heard this one before: Gio Reyna is injured and will miss matches for Dortmund.

Undoubtedly, he’ll come back to the bench the game before the international break so all the #USMNT idiots can go “Why isn’t Gregg calling in Reyna?!?”

Brighton thumped Wolverhampton 4-1. Having been shutout last week and going back to last year the Wanderers have scored 32 goals in 40 matches. By far the worst in the EPL.

No idea.

Fun fact: That Friday Night Game was not legally broadcasted in the UK. Was completely blacked out.

What games are actually viewable in the UK then? If I’m remembering right the 3pm slot is blacked out to help the lower leagues, even though most teams kick off then. Is it just the Sunday and Monday night games?

And Luton Town had to postpone their game against Burnsley because their stadium renovations aren’t done yet. It’s another couple weeks until their next home game so hopefully they’ll have it finished by then.

It's just supposed to be the 3pm Saturday games. I have no idea why the Friday game wasn't broadcasted.

Spain takes the crown 1-0 and without Earps it could've been worse than that for England. What I didn't know until this morning was that many of Spain's older and/or more established players sat out this World Cup because they don't like the coach, which is why they came in as the youngest finalist since 1995. So by keeping him on they may have just fast tracked a generation up an entire cycle.
