World Soccer XXX: We Have Men Too!

Well, more prestigious than MLS...
That’s debatable.

Liga MX teams didn’t really care about the CCL until very recently when MLS teams got better (they’d prefer playing in the Copa Libertadores). I guess the Club World Cup spot gives it some prestige. But the CCL is so meaningless that Liga MX and MLS started their own competition.

The Gold Cup is pretty meaningless now that the Confederations Cup is no more.

The Nations League is so bad they’re revamping the format to reduce the amount of games the US and Mexico play.

The Women’s tournament is basically “the US wins, Canada finishes second”.

Fair. Sad (for both), but fair.
If we’re honest, the average soccer fan is more likely to name an MLS Cup winner than a CCL winner.

In fairness, outside of the UEFA CL and the Copa Libertadores, most soccer fans would be hard pressed to name a Club Continental Champion. And even the Libertadores winner would be a tough ask (it’s Flamengo out of Brazil btw).

While true, I doubt 1% of non-US fans could name an MLS team. Cosmos don't count.
The Galaxy are an easy refute to that, NYCFC and the Red Bulls are pretty well known too. Miami is Beckham’s Team. DC thanks to Rooney. Toronto, Atlanta, Seattle, and Portland also do surprisingly well.

The Cosmos haven’t been relevant in 40 years.

Fifty. That was the joke.
No, it’s forty. Well, not even that, the Cosmos folded after 1984.

The Cosmos have a split legacy depending on age. For most folks your age it’s probably fond memories, for most my age they’re a shining example of the stupidity of the NASL era.

I don't care either way. That's also the joke.

Red Bulls game had 21 minutes of stoppage time in the 2nd half because of the N word.

San Jose's Jeremy Ebobisse accused NYRB's Dante Vanzeir of using a slur during the 54th minute. Played stopped until the 72nd minute. Vanzeir stayed in until the 87th minute. After the game MLS put out a statement that there will be an investigation.

Jesus Christ. I thought that sh-t only happened in Italy.

TBF, the player accused is Belgian.

If you look at the video and the player’s reactions it’s pretty obvious something was said. Ebobisse isn’t known as a fiery kind of player either.

The AppleTV Wrap Up show had former referee Christina Unkel on and she explained that the VAR does apparently have access to the TV mics and was trying to find out what was said but couldn’t, that is apparently a major reason for the delay.
