Re: World Soccer XXVII: The REAL Football

The bracket for the knockout round is slightly unbalanced. One side has Germany, Italy, France and England. They also have a chance to add Portugal to The mix.

The other side has Switzerland and Wales (so far).

Re: World Soccer XXVII: The REAL Football

I was hoping to see Icelnd and Austria come out of that group, but I doubt it'll happen now.

And Poland. But we all know that poles don't matter.

Re: World Soccer XXVII: The REAL Football

Belgium is gonna be better off for losing to italy. Funny how these things work out.

Re: World Soccer XXVII: The REAL Football

Croatia hasn't worn the red and white checkered shirt once...do they still wear them?

Re: World Soccer XXVII: The REAL Football

Hoping to see exactly one more goal from the Czech-Turkey game.

Edit: Well, short of the Turkish team facing discipline for their flares, I'd say my "Iceland and Austria both advance" dreams are already dashed.

Penalty saved by Croatia after a horrible call giving Spain the chance on the spot.

Re: World Soccer XXVII: The REAL Football

and Croatia score late to give them the lead. Spain needs a goal to win the group and avoid Italy in the knock-out round.

Re: World Soccer XXVII: The REAL Football

Would think either belgium or croatia will be in the final from that other side. Spain gagged today with the missed penalty and de gea letting one in near post.

Bracket of Death.

Re: World Soccer XXVII: The REAL Football

It looks like Slovakia and Northern Ireland are safely through as 3rd place sides, Slovakia has 4 points, and Northern Ireland has better goal differential than Turkey and Albania.

So three teams from countries that are part of Great Britain are into the knockout rounds.

If Iceland beats or ties Austria, it looks like they will be they will make the knockout rounds too (with a tie, will have better goal differential than Turkey and Albania).

Who would have expected us even to be discussing Wales, Northern Ireland, Iceland, and Albania as possible teams to make it through group stage?

Re: World Soccer XXVII: The REAL Football

Meanwhile, at least one and as many as three group winners from qualifying won't make it out of the group stage, despite having so many third place teams advance.

Re: World Soccer XXVII: The REAL Football

Fully expect to lose by at least 2 tonight but i'd imagine this would be our biggest competitive win ever?

Re: World Soccer XXVII: The REAL Football

Can't remember 95 copa or how good argentina was but if we win tonight i would rank that ahead of beating mexico.

The confed cup win over spain is comparable as they were coming off winning euro 2008.
