And now chanting it at own goalie. Hard to imagine any fanbase more despicable in world soccer.

If the US was blown out like that...I'd imagine our goalie would be hearing it from our fanbase.

"Hearing it" doesn't equate

It may not...but i doubt everything said would be clean/not offensive.
I don't care for the Mexican fanbase but going after their goalie is the least of it, especially in a game like that.

Re: World Soccer XXVII: The REAL Football

Based on the score and Mexico's fanbase being Mexico's fanbase, I'm assuming there's a foot of trash covering the entire field now?

Ochoa was being betrayed enough by his teammates, he didn't deserve to be getting it from the fans as well.

Seriously, goalkeeping doesn't even make the top 10 on the "what went wrong for Mexico" list.

I didn't say it was.
But it's not like it's the first time fans have gone after a single player and blamed them for a team failure.
All I'm saying is to say Mexico's fans are disgusting for turning on Ochoa is...to use your words...not even in the top 10 things wrong with that fanbase.

Re: World Soccer XXVII: The REAL Football

Do you really think they were turning on Ochoa? I thought that chant could be taken as general disgust in the whole team yesterday...

Re: World Soccer XXVII: The REAL Football

After watching the French and the Swiss stand around for 90 minutes. even mexico's game looks good.

Re: World Soccer XXVII: The REAL Football

Can anyone explain to me how the 3rd place teams get placed into the round of 16? how is it determined who they will play?

Re: World Soccer XXVII: The REAL Football

I was hoping to see Icelnd and Austria come out of that group, but I doubt it'll happen now.

That group could end up getting three though

A lot can change before Iceland and Austria play each other to make it such that only one of them advance, and Portugal getting a result could very well mean that neither moves on. But for now, it's possible, but highly dependent on the results of four other games.

Portugal has to lose to Hungary, Turkey and Czech Republic need to play to a (preferably low-scoring) draw, Sweden has to lose to Belgium (or have a low-scoring draw... maybe...), Ireland has to not beat Italy (they have a bad GD, so a draw probably doesn't help them).

And Iceland and Austria either need to draw or Austria eeks out a one-goal win. Their lives (especially Austria's) become easier if the game is high scoring.

I'm not holding out a lot of hope here. Albania eeking out a win didn't do any teams any favors if they intended to advance with 2 points, and regardless of the Iceland v. Austria result one of those teams has 2 points at best.
