Re: World Soccer XXV - the run up to the World Cup

Chivas USA on track to be sold, may sit out 2015 season.

That sound you hear is every other Western Conference team saying "oh please God no!" Why? Because that would mean Houston and SKC move west while the east gets two expansion teams. At that point Western Conference = Battle Royale ECW style while the Eastern Conference = DC and New England vs a bunch midgets and Toronto.
Crap - go one big league and play everyone home and home. If you want playoffs, take the top 8.

They are barely getting in the 34 plus Playoffs they're playing now. Adding in four games to that would make it worse, like trying to play in New England and Chicago in February worse.

I think the bigger problem is Wynalda. Gus would've been tolerable had he been paired with a decent color man.

Seattle Sounders FC are the 2014 US Open Cup Champions beating Philadelphia 3-1 in ET.

So Seattle wins the Open Cup, has clinched a Playoff spot, and lead the Supporters Shield race...

It's gonna hurt when we * this up...

Oh! The irony! Oh! The irony of it all!!

@GrantWahl: Sepp Blatter to give keynote at FIFA ethics summit days after Sunday Times found Blatter & all but 3 ExCo members accepted $25K watches.

MLS unveiled a new logo today. I'm sure you all saw it by now. I think it's awful, way too much blank space.

Re: World Soccer XXV - the run up to the World Cup

Informative write-up today in 538 blog about the "pyramid of English soccer"

But the EPL is just the tip of the English football iceberg. It’s the most visible element of an intricate hierarchy of some 7,000 football teams, playing under the auspices of the Football Association (the FA) .... The pyramid has more than 20 levels and hundreds of leagues.

So, can we stop whining about Platini hating England now that they gave Wembley both semifinals and the final of Euro 2020?

Euro 2020 will be canceled because of ennui by the French.

Re: World Soccer XXV - the run up to the World Cup

I can't stop laughing
@SeppBlatter: Everyone in the global football community has a responsibility to act ethically. Football fans rightly demand this. FIFA has taken the lead.
