Re: World Soccer XXIV: The Road to Rio

I'm really, really pulling for Panama tonight. That, and if we beat Mexico, puts Mexico behind the 8-ball as it really makes it possible for them to finish 5th.

Re: World Soccer XXIV: The Road to Rio

I'm not a big fan of them playing up the US record at Columbus, and their recent results vs Mexico. Feels a lot like jinxing a no hitter.

Re: World Soccer XXIV: The Road to Rio

How awesome would it be if the kids that walk out with the players, if everyone of them turned around and kicked the Mexican players in the balls?

Re: World Soccer XXIV: The Road to Rio

So far US has been happy to turn the ball over immediately upon touching it. Good strategy....

Re: World Soccer XXIV: The Road to Rio

Mexico might want to put a man on Eddie Johnson for corners. But hopefully they don't.

Re: World Soccer XXIV: The Road to Rio

Why aren't they blaring Chelsea Dagger after they score? I'm not a Hawks fan, but that would be a cool song.

Re: World Soccer XXIV: The Road to Rio

That fall down move by Dempsey was lame. Guys weren't on him that tightly. He should of kept the pressure up.

Honduras 1:0 Panama. Halftime.

Jamaica ties Costa Rica in extra time, I believe. 1-1 final. Tied it at 90' +2.

I enjoy this translation of the Univision article.

COLUMBUS - The Mexican national team lost 2-0 to the United States at Columbus Crew Stadium in duel in CONCACAF Final Round towards the World Cup Brazil 2014.

The combination of the 'Stars and Stripes' went ahead with a goal from Eddie Johnson in the 49th minute on a shot esquinda where American striker scored with a header after a bad output Corona and poor marking Diego Reyes.

After being down on the scoreboard, Mexico fell into an abyss of inaccuracies and failed to generate the hazard that caused the beginning of the meeting at the foot of 'Chaco' Gimenez. Came the three modifications and again received a goal that killed their hopes of tying the game and let him suck only way to the playoffs.

In a great solo from Mikkel Diskerud, which came to the area and speed Mexicans easily exceeded, it was 2-0 as the '14 'got diagonal of death and Landon Donovan closed the clip to send the ball into the back and up another goal after 78 minutes.

With this result the United States got its World Cup Brazil ball to reach 16 units in the Hex which is a leader on the tie between Jamaica and Costa Rica. In contrast, the Tricolor is left with 8 points, is fourth and just wants to fight for the ticket to Panama
