Re: World Soccer XXIV: The Road to Rio

Is it just me or does the hat trick goal look offsides?
Due to the camera angle, yes, but I think that defender on Jozy's right was in front of him (look at where he is relative to the 18 yard box).

Edit: Just froze the frame at 0:43 of that video. You might be right, actually.

Re: World Soccer XXIV: The Road to Rio

The best thing about this to me was how it seems that the US is actually developing some depth. That''s not what I'm used to for sure.

Re: World Soccer XXIV: The Road to Rio

Great start to the BPL season. Viewers on Directv can see every game live. Channels 491-495 will offer expanded coverage in addition to the main game on 220. NBCSN also has every game online if you have the network. Very good start for their coverage, airing the Kop singing "You'll Never Walk Alone" at Liverpool.

Loving that we get this on US TV.

Re: World Soccer XXIV: The Road to Rio

surprisingly little commentary for week 1.

Wenger is blaming everybody but himself for their loss...both PK calls were valid.

Re: World Soccer XXIV: The Road to Rio

Doncaster blows by Blackburn 2:0 to start the season. Going to be another long one. I hope someone else decides to buy them. :(

Flip a coin. Loser gets the Qatar WC, so the WC can be played in a climate with two digit temperatures in both Centigrade and Fahrenheit.

Now, I think a single match. In Japan say, for the World Cup hosting would be epic

Re: World Soccer XXIV: The Road to Rio

Really liked United's attacking style against Swansea, but Rooney needs to go sooner rather than later. Did he make plays on the last two goals? Yes, but he's going to be a problem if United doesn't get off to a good start.

Re: World Soccer XXIV: The Road to Rio

The ratings on NBCSN were a .5 which is up 67% over last year. The United-Swansea game on NBC drew a .8 for the highest-rated BPL season opener ever.

Re: World Soccer XXIV: The Road to Rio

I really enjoyed NBC's coverage this week. They did a good job of being knowledgeable, but trying to include people that may be watching for the first time. The studio show was fairy solid and I love Match of the Day at the end of the night. Well done so far.

Re: World Soccer XXIV: The Road to Rio

When did we starting calling it BPL (barclays) instead of EPL?

It's actually the British Premier League. FSC corrected it last year when Swansea City entered the league. It isn't just English clubs that compete.
