Gulati interview at halftime:

- Yes, we voted for Sepp. He's promised reforms. "Taking the moral high ground is fine unless on you're standing on quickstand."
- "Who knows" on a World Cup revote. No proof of anything so far.

It could always happen I guess. And the best thing is that we have going for us on that is the fact to host one at the drop of a hat. The only location that really needed to be build was the new LA stadium, and if push came to shove on that, they could still make do with the Rose Bowl.

Re: Norwich City back in the Premier League!

Didn't take much notice of Ancelotti getting the boot at Chelsea until he became a frontrunner at Aston Villa...aside from the headline "fired after two successful years" what is the deal with Carlo? Good manager? Did he bring Torres in or was that the owner? From a distance I thought the Drogba/Torres thing did indicate some people over there weren't on the same page.

I think Roman meddles too much in Chelski. He wants to get the latest and greatest toy (Schevchenko, Torres) when the manager already has good chemistry and a good striker in Drogba. However, Roman wants a lackey as a manager that will give into him instead of someone like a SAF that will tell the owner to stuff it and make decisions on personnel without interference of the front office.

I guess they're expecting around 25k tonight. Not terrible or anything, but I wish they could have lowered the prices a bit. Most expensive tix were $110. I know you technically get two games (Panama-Guadeloupe, yay!), but still.

USA team for tonight:
USA: Howard; Cherundolo, Goodson, Ream, Bocanegra; Dempsey, Bradley, Jones, Donovan; Altidore, Agudelo

Bornstein, Rogers, Adu and Spector not in the 18.

Goodson and Ream look very good in the back. Altidore's goal was a good play on his part, but should have been stopped.

CONCACAF.com for English and univisionfutbol.com for Spanish. I've heard the CONCACAF one can be hit or miss.

The play-by-play sounds like it's done by a (really crappy) college station, but the feed quality is fine.

The CONCACAF.com announcers are completely unprofessional.

Highlights with excellent Spanish commentary:

Altidore's goal should have been stopped, but he put a hard low shot on target and it just goes to prove the adage that good things happen when you put shots on goal. Some nice saves by Howard to preserve the shutout too.

The US played very well in the first half, constantly pressuring down the center of the field making the Canucks tenative to push up the wings. In the second half LD and Duece creeped to far into the middle of the field, making Dolo and Boca to carry the wings. The Canadians finally started pushing up the wings and that's when they got that flurry of chances. Jermaine Jones will very good in the back of the midfield; he closed down passing lanes and gave no ball carrier room to work. Ream and Goodson were good in the back, both had a lapse or two, but their service was great and the confidence the rest of the team had in them was evident.

It's being reported (mainly just in tweets for the time being) that 5 Mexicans on the Gold Cup roster (Ochoa, Maza Rodriguez, Bernudez, Sinha, Duenas) failed a doping test by testing positive for clenbuterol and have been removed from the roster. Early reports blame tainted chicken.
