For the record, the promotion playoffs to the Prem are:

3. Swansea City vs. 6. Nottingham Forest
4. Cardiff City vs. 5. Reading

Playoffs are always a crapshoot, though I'd love to see Forest through. Also, a 1-in-2 chance of the first Welsh Premiership side.

Preston North End, Sheffield United and the Iron (S'thorpe United) are down to League 1, with Brighton, Southampton and the winner of those playoffs (Huddersfield-Bournemouth and Posh-MK Dons) taking their places.

Going up to League 1 are Chesterfield, Bury, Wycombe and one of Shrewsbury, Accrington Stanley, Stevenage and Torquay, replacing Dagenham & Redbridge, Bristol Rovers, Plymouth Argyle and Swindon Town.

Lincoln City and Stockport County fell out of the Football League, to be replaced by Crawley Town and one of AFC Wimbledon (ooh!), Luton Town, Wrexham or Kidderminster Harriers.

Arsenal flop after their big win over ManU the week before. Nice to see Wolves pick up a big win in their derby with West Brom to pull out of the relegation zone. But, they certainly aren't safe yet, just in a better spot. And its too bad that S'unthorpe are getting relegated, as I've always liked the Iron, but they were probably punching above their weight in the Championship to begin with.

QPR are coming up, because the FA has no balls. Not surprising after they didn't dock West Ham points for the same offense, but it's still weak.

Please let Wimbledon win promotion. I'd love a League Cup matchup between them and MK Dons. :D

Darn...the scummers up to to the Championship. Although, that does mean two South Coast Derbys next year for Pompey!

Usual suspects have already won (AC Milan, Dortmund) or are about to win (Barcelona, Manchester United) in four of the big European leagues, but in France it's looking like Lille (starring a bunch of guys you've never heard of unless you follow Ligue 1 closely or play Football Manager games) are going to beat out the big spenders at OL and OM to win the league; they're up by four points with four to play, and while Marseille have an easier remaining schedule it seems like the advantage is likely to be enough. It would be Lille's first major hardware since the 1950s (unless you count the Intertoto or winning Ligue 2, which I don't).

Are Fulham this bad or did Liverpool stay at a Holiday Inn Express last night?

Very impressed by the Pool today. Maxi and Suarez were very good today.

I was also impressed by Sidwell and his reaction to it. Other guys that would've scored a cracker of a goal would be jumping around like a moron, but not him. That's how a real footballer should handle a situation like that. Acknowledge the goal, but be angry your team got housed.

One of the funnier parts about PNE's relegation. It's funny because it's true, even if Blackpool get relegated, too.

I don't have any allegiances to any clubs in England, so I don't have much say about the promotions out there. I hope MK Dons stays down because I feel the pain of a moved franchise (long live the North Stars!). Hopefully AFC Wimbledon can keep rising so they can one day beat the everlasting **** out of MK Dons. Beyond that, I like the idea of once great clubs returning to the top, so I guess I can pull for Forest.

Gotta ask. Why is Peterborough referred to as Posh?

Gotta ask. Why is Peterborough referred to as Posh?

According to Wikipedia:

Peterborough United are nicknamed "The Posh", a moniker coined in 1921 after the then manager of Fletton United, was reported to say he was "Looking for posh players for a posh new team". When Fletton United looked to join the Southern League in 1923 they added Peterborough to their name to form Peterborough & Fletton United, in an attempt to gain the backing of businesses in Peterborough. Peterborough & Fletton United went bankrupt in Oct 1932 so the current club are the 3rd to be known as The Posh.

Manchester City 1 : 0 Tottenham Hotspur. City clinch Champions League qualification for next year. Outside shot of catching Arsenal for 3rd.

And look who is right in the mix for fifth with missing their best player for half the season and selling their second best player at the transfer window after he looked like **** all season after getting hurt in the World Cup Final...

King Kenny > Roy Hodgson. In every way.

Which leads to a couple of questions: Do you really want your team to get the Europa League spot? And is it time to sell Gerrard?

I know the EL brings in extra money, but I happen to think for either Liverpool or Tottenham it would be better to not have that on your schedule and focus on getting back into the Champions League.

As for Gerrard, and this coming from someone that hates Liverpool with a passion, I would think its time to cash in on him before it too late. They are playing great without him, does he change all that when he comes back?

Re: World Soccer XX: I paid Jack Warner $1M for the right to start this thread

Blackburn sitting at 39 pts is disappointing. Pre-season I had them for as many as 54 points this year. Probably only need a couple more points to secure their spot in the Prem for next season.
