So Real Salt Lake loses to Saprissa 2-1 but advances to the CONCACAF Champions League Final 3-2 on aggregate.

I suppose if they win we'll have to stop calling them Fake Salt Lake...

So, uh, Schalke. Where the heck did that come from?

United wins 1-0 in Leg 1 over Chelski.

I bet you Rooney was pretty bleeping happy. :D

Is anyone else watching Whitecaps-Revs? Name that ref:

46': Hassli ENTERS
48': Hassli YELLOW CARD (solid elbow busts open Alston's face)
54': Hassli GOAL- PENALTY
56': Hassli SECOND YELLOW CARD (removes his shirt after scoring to reveal IDENTICAL shirt)

Hey, another red card!

The announcers think the MLS should suspend him.

The referee, not the player.

Re: World Soccer XX: I paid Jack Warner $1M for the right to start this thread

There's one even up red card, 73' AJ Soares for a benign tackle.

Baldomero Toledo isn't an official, he's an exercise in displaying random colors.

The Revs are horrible, they couldn't even possess the ball with an 11 v 9 advantage. Now that it is 10 v 9, they have no ideas. You had a 2 man advantage, why play diagonal balls? Possessssssssion!

The Hassli sending off was hilarious. 2 reds in 3 games for him.

Meanwhile, Lebron is taking his ownership talents to Merseyside.

The basketball star LeBron James has secured a minority stake in Liverpool after cutting a deal with the club's US owner.

Fenway Sports Group, which also owns baseball's Boston Red Sox, has struck an agreement with James's sports-marketing firm, LRMR Branding & Marketing, to be the representative for the controversial Miami Heat player around the world. In return James will become a minority owner in Liverpool. He said he was "excited to be affiliated with this incredible organisation" and looked forward to donning a red shirt and visiting Anfield.

The Revs score to tie it! No they didn't!

Re: World Soccer XX: I paid Jack Warner $1M for the right to start this thread

Not a single player on the Revs tonight, except perhaps for the goalkeeper, looks remotely like he deserves to get paid for playing soccer professionally.

Re: World Soccer XX: I paid Jack Warner $1M for the right to start this thread

Revs score at 90'+2, this is still an embarrassment.

FT: Guatemala U-20 2 USA U-20 1

USA fails to qualify for U-20 WC. That.... shouldn't happen. The US soccer cognoscenti is calling for Rongen's head on the twitters.

I don't think his head will be enough. Really? Wow.

Actually, not really. I've always been surprised at how much the U20's have underachieved under Rongen.

Shouldn't that have happened when he burned our bridges with Neven Subotic?

Re: World Soccer XX: I paid Jack Warner $1M for the right to start this thread

I was surprised they let him stick around after the disappointing '09 U20s.

What a dumb move by Hassli. Sometimes you gotta put things on the backburner.
