No. I believe we were done when Argentina qualified.

The team that was on pins and needles today was the Netherlands. I certainly hope they end up in South Africa's group, otherwise their group is almost certain to be the hardest to advance out of.

No one really knows yet because FIFA hasn't announced how the pools will be filled.

Previously, they had 4 pools. The top 7 seeds and the host in one. The rest of Europe in the 2nd. And then some combo of the other feds in the other 2. Each group would get one team from each pool.

There were some rumors on Big Soccer that they were considering seeding up to 16 teams, so that only 2 of the top 16 teams would be in any one group. But who knows what will happen until closer to teh draw in Dec.

After what looked like a possible back-breaker, the Ticos have equalized (Walter Centeno) in Montevideo. With about 20 minutes remaining, we're basically down to 'next goal wins.'

Sounds like some combo of seeding teams in bands/avoiding three European teams in a group would be ideal.

Uruguay holds on for the 1-1 draw on the day and 2-1 win on aggregate and your 2010 World Cup field is complete:

Hosts: South Africa

Europe: Denmark, England, Germany, Italy, Netherlands, Serbia, Slovakia, Switzerland, Spain, Greece, Slovenia, Portugal, France

South America: Brazil, Chile, Argentina, Paraguay, Uruguay

North America: Mexico, USA, Honduras

Taking a guess at how the pot might be seeded (combine CONCACAF and AFC as well as NZ, Africa, and non seeded South Americans) I would say our ideal group would be South Africa, Uruguay, and Slovenia.

All we know is that Portugal and France will get sweetheart draws. Can't make them actually earn anything through playing quality soccer.

Just had a chance to see the Henry handball. I trust he won't be vacationing in Ireland anytime soon. Too bad he is no longer in EPL, something tells me he wouldn't see the end of the season, at least with two knees intact.

He should decline to play in the WC.

I'd gladly give anything to see Celtic or Rangers offer up a friendly against whatever team he's playing for now with the stipulation the game is played at Celtic or Rangers. I know that's Scottish but I don't care.
