World Soccer X: Duh, duh, duh, duh...The Champions!

Re: World Soccer X: Duh, duh, duh, duh...The Champions!

Fabregas' goal was the goal of the season.... no one will be better than that this year. No way. That said, ESPN absolutely butchered the coverage of it. They were showing replays of the first RVP goal while Fabregas' sublime run was occurring. They did not come back live until Fabregas was already in the box getting ready to shoot.

RVP's second of the game puts Arsenal up 3-0 and we are 65 minutes in at Emirates. Gotta love the North London derby!! :)

Re: World Soccer X: Duh, duh, duh, duh...The Champions!

Double post but Spurs have just unveiled their design for a new 56,000 seater. The early works made it look like Emirates in blue and white, but the final work has a massive kop at one end:

Some speculation that they might have pulled ahead in the race to be London Stadium 2 for World Cup in 2018, but I'd still put my money on Twickenham.

Still looks like a full-on ripoff of Emirates to me.... paint it blue if ya like, but what are Spurs doing???? You would think they would like a unique design and to have it be ANYTHING but a replica of their RIVAL'S HOME. Whatever.

Re: World Soccer X: Duh, duh, duh, duh...The Champions!

Who's an expert with English soccer? I need to know why Arsenal is so highly favored against Tottenham. Is it a lock, or just hype? I looked up the standings and they are tied for third in Barclays, so I don't understand the huge odds.

This is greatly needed for a centsports bet. TIA

Sparty... well... the Arsenal is up 3-0 and salting this away now. Guess the books know something. Of course, history says Spurs have not won at Arsenal (Highbury or Emirates) since '93, so you do the math.

Re: World Soccer X: Duh, duh, duh, duh...The Champions!

Full Time~~~>>> Arsenal 3, Tottenham 0

Two for RVP (42', 60'), a wonder goal for Cesc Fabregas (43'), and a clean sheet for Almunia on his return. Also, congrats to Arsene Wenger on his 1000th point as boss at Arsenal! :)

Rest of the weekend is guaranteed quality now! Happy Halloween, all!

Blackburn will upset ManU today! You heard it here first! :D

OK, maybe not but it would be nice for once.

Re: World Soccer X: Duh, duh, duh, duh...The Champions!

Congrats Fulham, you took advantage of the chances you were given.

Rafa clearly looked ahead to Lyon, and yet again we pay the price.

Andriy Voronin I don't think could play for my IM side in college.

Re: World Soccer X: Duh, duh, duh, duh...The Champions!

So far so good. 45 in the books and still 0-0 at Old Trafford.

Of course last weekend Chelsea netted 4 in the 2nd half. :(

Oh and to make matters worse Blackburn drew Chelsea for the cup draw. At least its at Ewood Park. ManU drew Spurs.

Chelsea might tank it. The two semis would be in January when a bunch of their guys are at the african cup of nations.

Liverpool should look at the bright side, I think they will have a genuine chance of winning a trophy next year in the europa league:D

Don't worry, at the transfer window we'll hopefully see Liverpool bring in depth. Wracked by injuries this year and no depth=fail.

They need new owners and a new manager. I still can't believe the money they spent on Glen Johnson, when you have no depth in the midfield and attack, the last thing you should do is spend 18 million quid on an attacking right back.

Re: World Soccer X: Duh, duh, duh, duh...The Champions!

Liverpool is basically out after the ref and linesman miss Lisandro bringing the ball down with his arm TWICE and then finishes to tie the match at 1.

Btw Craig, the Belgian ref today is one of the worst in football and it makes no sense to give a Belgian ref an assignment with a French team with the match in France.

Unique designs are great. But they're not as great as good designs that work.

It's a soccer stadium, there are only so many ways to skin a cat, here.

There's a reason why most of the NHL/NBA arenas look very similar - because with similar design constraints (size of the playing surface, arena capacity, suite/club seat needs, roof, concession points of sale, sight lines, etc) there are only so many combinations that work.

When clients get overzealous for something that's 'unique,' it usually turns into crap. See - Nationals Park. Nobody wants this:

Nationals Park is basically a carbon copy of Coors Field for what it's worth.

Your opinion of his ability is certainly not by observers of officiating in Europe, based on comments I've seen in the past; they generally consider De Bleeckere to be one of the top men in Europe.

He is inconsistent, calls niggling little fouls but misses obvious calls. Depending on his mood the physicality of the game turns on its head.

Having been to both, I completely disagree.

If you're talking in terms of basic ballpark systems, that might be true - but that's also true of every single ballpark HOK's designed.

Re: World Soccer X: Duh, duh, duh, duh...The Champions!

Villa gets a guy sent off at 85 and then loses it in extra time today...they have a knack for giving up a point (or two) in the last minutes of the game...ever since mid-year last they have been unable to finish the deal and have left too many points on the field with poor play at the end.

:(

Re: World Soccer X: Duh, duh, duh, duh...The Champions!

HOK is a bit lame lately. It's like they're all making cookie cutter stadiums and not enough creativity is involved.

I want more of a difference between each stadium.

Re: World Soccer X: Duh, duh, duh, duh...The Champions!

I agree. Making a whole bunch of stadiums that are all retro/steel/brick is just as monotonous as making a whole bunch of stadiums that are all 60s/70s multipurpose ovals.
